Are you ready to have your mind blown by the second day of Ask Hayley Questions? Below, I've responded to as many as possible. If I didn't get to yours, it's probably because a) I've answered the same question a lot in the past, and will probably get around to including it in a FAQ of sorts, b) I've written it down and will try to devote a full post to it later, or c) it was too personal/difficult to put into a few sentences, etc. Whether your question appears in this post or not, I greatly appreciate that so many of you took the time to comment. I hope you all have a lovely Tuesday, and I'll see you tomorrow night.
Vicky: How and why did you decide you wanted to be a professional writer?
Hayley: In first grade, we wrote (very) short stories, got to type them on fancy computers, and read them aloud to the class. Mine was killer, and the other kids really listened and said they liked it. It was an amazing feeling, and I've sort of been chasing it ever since.
Morgan: How hard has the long distance thing gotten, at its worst?
Hayley: Our relationship is strong enough that even the sad times are totally worthwhile. I've never thought for a second that being single would be easier than missing him. That being said, however, sometimes it's pretty depressing. The worst part is saying goodbye after having been together nonstop for a week.
Stefan: If you made videos full time, do you think you could live off it?
Hayley: No, I couldn't. If I were to make videos every day, and if they were to receive the same attention that my fortnightly videos do now, I could maybe scrape by. But that's not going to happen, and I don't really want it to.
Tom: How do you feel about Nerdfightersecrets?
Hayley: In its short existence, that blog has already caused me a lot of pain. There's so much heartbreak and sadness oozing out of it that it's exhausting to read. I was willing to support it nonetheless up until people started publishing cruel and uninformed jabs at my friends. John and Hank's goal as community leaders is to give people a sense of belonging despite their differences. Making unfounded mean comments about the people you perceive to be popular is exactly like high school, and exactly the sort of negativity I try to avoid in my life.
Hannah and Elisabeth: My current relationship is about to become long-distance for the first time. Advice on how to make it work?
Hayley: Make special dates on Skype to talk and "hang out" like you would in real life. When it works, turn on video chat while you both do other things, too. Sometimes The Situation and I will sit in silence while I do homework and he answers emails. It sounds silly, but it reminds you that your relationship is real and normal, instead of trying to squeeze as much together-time as you can into one IRL weekend.
Meg: Is your hair straight, curly, or in between?
Hayley: All of the above. Naturally, a few random pieces of my hair are perfect spirals, but most of it is rather straight with a few kinks and waves.
Kelly: Do you have any advice for new vloggers?
Hayley: Practice editing as much as possible, find other vloggers with similar interests and try to form friends and contacts. Take collab opportunities when they come to you, and don't try too hard. Don't try to become some successful celebrity. Do it because it's fun.
Kaylaann93: What kind of music do you listen to when you run?
Hayley: Anything upbeat and positive. Sometimes the music that annoys me most in the car can motivate me the best while working out. For example, I often run to the soundtrack from Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Gillian: What did you do with the Hannah Montana barbie doll and the Ninja Turtles bedspread?
Hayley: Hannah sits happily on my desk, and he brags to people about the bedspread aaaall the time.
Kate: NSYNC or Backstreet? Which Spice Girl are you?
Hayley: NSYNC. Ginger.
Hannah: What's your favorite video you've ever made?
Hayley: My two favorites are my Makeup Tutorial and Pizza Rolls.
Sarah: If you could switch lives with one youtuber for a day, who would it be?
Hayley: John Green, and I'd spend the whole day reading unpublished writing of "mine" and molesting myself.
Toastburntbread: How did The Situation and you come to be this lovely couple?
Hayley: It's not some miraculously theatrical tale, but we don't really tell people how we met, so it can be our own private story.
Julie: Would you ever make a video about being a vegetarian?
Hayley: Probably not. I'm a very passive vegetarian. I mean, I stopped eating meat when I was five years old, so it's not exactly a struggle. My lack of meat consumption hardly ever crosses my mind. It's just how I am.
Lauren: Have you read The Hunger Games? Favorite Potter book/film? Are you seeing Deathly Hallows at midnight?
Hayley: I haven't yet, but I plan to. Half-Blood Prince, for both. Yes.
Abby: Have you ever seen Wicked?
Hayley: I've seen it something like five times.
Today, I saw: some stupid western. My dad works so hard all day that, once in a while, he likes to turn them on in the evenings and stare at them for hours while he half-sleeps in front of the TV.
Today, I touched: my dog's leash. She's great.
Today, I smelled: very little, because my nose was too consumed in the fact that I kept bursting into tears, since The Situation left for home this morning.
Today, I heard: the beautiful Marion Cotillard sing in Nine, which I watched today for a second time in my sister's living room.
Today, I tasted: a McFlurry for the first time in many, many years. I bought it in an emotional stupor with the intention of eating my feelings.
Chipotle burritos this year: 23
Subscribers: 33,292
Nail color: In the transition period.

Yay, you answered my question! Excellent answer, by the way. :) Hope you have a great day~
Aw, the link at the bottom was for depressing quotes. You're awesome Hayley :D The video on The Situation's other channel starring you made me laugh so hard.
Haha, our dads could be twins. And your answer about John Green made me laugh out loud. Sorry your day was suckish. I hope tomorrow is better. :)
You are an amazing writer. Even your answers to mundane questions are creative.
You have no idea how happy that just made me. Since I live in Southern Indiana, there ain't much to do except sit in the beds of pick-up trucks on late summer nights, talking and smoking and stuff. We park in cornfields and wrap up in blankets and light fires. Turn on the radio so no one gets to pick. It's pretty great, but I figure there's more to life, so I try to make people happy. Hearing that you have the Hannah Montana doll on your desk and that the Situation brags about my old, ratty sheets, in return, makes me incredibly delighted and ecstatic. Thanks for all y'all do to open the world a little bit for me.
I about died when you said "molesting myself." xD
Saw: a short film about Neanderthals.
Heard: Everyone in my choir sing "Happy birthday." The teacher was assigning everyone to their parts, so I had the song in my head for hours.
Touched: My library card.
Smelled: Uhhh... oxygen?
Tasted: Faux Oreos.
thanks so much H,
I'd have to agree on both points. 1) scraping by would suck. 2) I often worry that pro youtubers are slowly going crazy. Like they are losing themselves an slowly becoming the person they portray in their videos. I's wish that on no one.
PS wow nerdfightersecrets is one weird ass website. I wonder if John and Hank are scared of the monster they have created. If I had 14 year old girls screaming at me I know I would be worried.
Is there a question day number 3? Cause I want to ask how much you run. I finally ran a mile nonstop yesterday. :)
that makes me happy.
And sorry you're sad.
I wish we could apparate so you can see Mike as much as you want.
Thanks for the answer.
And don't you love that I have the same name as Hannah Montana? It's pretty amazing. Makes me feel special.
(Just so you know - I'd probably get really bored just sitting on your dresser with nothing to do except admire your bedspread. Though I'm sure it's amazing.)
When I was in the second grade, we did this unit on pigs and we all had to write stories about pigs. Mine was about a ballerina pig named may. My teacher decided that she was going to put them on something called "the internet" (it was like 1996) and we got to look them up. It was pretty cool
About a year ago, I was googling my parents and I decided to google myself. The story is still there. And I know realize the story I was oh so proud of in 1996 will be available forever because I don't know how to get it off the internet.
Good thing I never wanted to be a writer.
Yay NSYNC!!! I say this having just left a backstreet concert an hour ago...
Hayley, it's great to know that you plan on answering all the questions, and you're not just brushing some off because you think they're stupid or boring.
I went to Cedar Point on Sunday with my best friend and my boyfriend and it was wonderful. So, I HAS QUISTIONS: Have you gone on the Millenium Force or the Top-Thrill Dragster? If not, would you? I chickened out completely for the Millenium, but i'd do that before the Top-Thrill Dragster. I don't think I could ever see myself riding that one. I wish I could. But I can't. I hate wimping out, it feels stupid. Though the Maverick IS my favourite, so that counts for something right?
I couldn't imagine writing a blog everyday this month, it's been so busy it's hard to even get on here just to read yours. But they're always awesome when I catch up <3
And...relatedly...we spent the entire drive there and back listening to NSYNC and Backstreet Boys and Aaron Carter. I was always more of a Backstreet Boys kinda girl.
You make me laugh.
Also, I don't understand how you can be such a food appreciator, but remain a vegetarian. To me it would seem that being a vegetarian cuts out SO many choices of food. Like, there's so much you can never taste or try or anything. I don't get how you do it.
Also, your answer about John Green is hysterical. :P
Um um um I want to ask you another question but I can't think of anything.
What book do I absolutely have to read?
What's your favourite (non-Chipotle) food?
Have you seen AVPS? What did you think?
Oh, and what internet person who you haven't met do you fangirl the most?
Okay, now I'm going to feel dumb if you're done with the question blogs.
I've been kind of disappointed with people's responses to NerdfighterSecrets :(
Yeah, there were multiple posts that were rather insulting to 5AG members and others in the community. But while NS responded by coming out in support of the "victims," the more public response (Blogger, Twitter, etc.) has been to turn against NS. That seems almost backwards, as it's these public figures around which the community of pro-inclusion, pro-tolerance, etc. was formed. I know it's different when you're good friends with the people being attacked, but still.
Not that I'm saying you need to like NS, as that would be wholly hypocritical. I just hope the dislike stems more from its depressing nature than the opinions on it.
"Hayley: John Green, and I'd spend the whole day reading unpublished writing of "mine" and molesting myself." Brilliant.
Dammit. I haven't seen Wicked. I'm trying to find someone to see it with me. I should just go by myself. I should do that before my money runs out haha.
This is so creepy, but, The Situation (I obviously need to find the blog post where this nickname came into use) just came on singing about Abby and her being Okay and all.
I had never heard of Nerdfightersecrets. Clicked on over there and lasted about five seconds. There's too much angst, I don't need that in my life right now. HARDCORE.
I love reading these, because I wouldn't think of half of these questions, but it is fun to know the answer.
We are lucky to appreciate your blog. Want to become a friend with you. cheap nfl nike jerseys
