Potter and French and Flu!

Aaaaah. Hey, guys. Between final exams and NaNoWriMo and packing and driving home for my winter break, I feel like I've been running laps ever since we last spoke. But you, Blog, are exactly what I need to unwind. You are like a big comfy pillow. Made of angels. And you smell like tea and bubble baths. Because I don't have the attention span to form paragraphs right now, I shall now proceed to make random bullet points of things on my mind.*

--I've now seen Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 two times, and have plans to see it again with my entire family tomorrow. It is BY FAR my favorite of the movies, and I have very few complaints. However, my complaints are valid, and they are as follows: 1) Why would Regulus have his full name on his bedroom door? 2) Why would Hermione pack more than one coat? 3) Since when are elevator doors impermeable to Dementors? 4) Why is Movie!Voldemort always so... green? 5) It's unfair to Harry to make him say idiotic things like "What's the trace?" just to reiterate plot points. 6) How did Ron not get hypothermia after he crawled out of ice water, fully clothed, and then hung out for fifteen minutes?

--My final exam in French didn't go spectacularly. There was a full page devoted to grammatical rules I'd barely ever heard of before, because most people in the class were either better prepared in high school, or have already taken a full year of French at the university level. I studied like it was my job, and I tried hard, so... we'll see. Je suis très, très stupide.

--Until this week, my mother has always operated under the assumption that the flu is a myth, and that to succumb to minor sickness is a sign of weakness. But, thanks to karma, my poor mom was just attacked by her first flu in twenty-five years. She's infected my dad, and is now inevitably infecting me. As of this moment, I feel fine, other than a few nerve-wracking body aches... but I am coming to terms with the fact that I'll probably be spending my Thanksgiving holiday... losing food.

--My new writing venture, Presence, is getting off to a crazy start. I already have more blog-related email than I can respond to, which is both daunting and amazing. I'm still finding my footing and trying to figure out exactly what the site is going to be, but its readers are already blowing me away with their insight and humor and kindness toward each other and geez!

--Nanowrimo is quite the challenge this year, but I'm still going. I had to take a full week off to focus on finishing my academic quarter, but I've spent a large part of today trying to get back on track. I've accepted that I might not finish the race to 50,000, but I'm not going to let myself quit. Who's with me!?

--I just posted a new video on hayleyghoover, and I think it's pretty good. I bitch and satirize and sit on the floor of my dorm room in front of a blanket I taped to my dresser. A must-see!

And that's pretty much it, as far as I can remember. What have you guys been up to? What were your feelings on Deathly Hallows? Any tips on how I can fight this flu before it happens? What's your blood type? Really, anything you have to contribute that will give me a break from writing would be greatly appreciated. I seriously might die in front of my computer, fingers outstretched, gasping for breath. Or maybe I'm a drama queen.

Either way, I hope you're all having a lovely day, and I can't wait to catch up with you again soon!

- Deathly Hallows was my fave as well. I was very frustrated with the middle cut, as were we all, but I felt as if SO MUCH MORE STUFF fitted into the movie. It was more fulfilling than watching a regular 2h movie. OMG and I cried like a baby when Harry took Hermione dancing. It was so touching.
- Don't fight the flu: see it as an opportunity of eating, spending time in bed curled up with a blanket and watching... 30 Rock! Isn't laughter the best remedy?
- A+
- Hm. Must go now, I have an essay for tomorrow and haven't even read the 30 page text on administrative law I am supposed to criticize!
- I'm very proud of your initiative concerning Presence. It's very "you" (which is weird coming from someone who doesn't know you at all IRL), and I feel as if it could contribute so much to teenagers worldwide.
Much love,

Bel

i adored deathly hallows! was so good! although i really wanted to see lunas room :/

i am loving presence, good job :)

as for the flu, i recommend a microwavable teddy and endless cups of tea :D

the story about what my blood type supposedly is, is along and boring one, so let's just say we don't know :)

i am sadly not doing nanowrimo, as i lack the time and motivation to do it, maybe next year.

am spending spare time watching my country fall apart because our goverment is being run by idiots.

all's good (Y) :D

hayley! As for Deathly Hallows, i loved it, but have some complaints, like every Harry Potter fan. 1- Where is the portrit of Phineas Nigellus? aka how will Snape know where to send his partons. 2- what about Lunas room! 3- So, no invisiblity coat. Where is it????? 4- Ron saying the line that Dumbledore knew he would always leave, but they dont have harry say no, he knew you would always come back.

I loooooved Deathly Hallows! My favorite by far too =] I almost wish they split the rest of the HP movies into 2 parts, so they wouldn't have had to leave so much out. Though,I'm not sure the actors would have appreciated that.. I cried throughout the whole movie.
I have no idea how to fight the flu, but my cousin is convinced that pomegranate juice is a cure-all, so if you're feeling adventurous...
And I don't know my blood type either. If I'm ever in an emergency where I lose too much blood, I just hope the doctors can figure it out.

Certainly my favorite, too, and I've also seen it twice now, including once at midnight. here's my major beef: WHY CAN'T ANYONE CONFIRM WHO THEY ARE when they're taken to Malfoy manor? Dear Peter Pettigrew: You used to BELONG to Ron. And you can't confirm that he is, in fact, him? And Mr. Malfoy, you've spoken to Harry AT LEAST FIVE TIMES. And you hate him. Why can you not tell who he is when his eye is swollen?

That is all. For now.

Reread Deathly Hallows. I'm pretty sure Regulus had his full name on the door in the book. "Do not enter without the express permission of Regulus Arcturus Black" or something like that.

I loved Deathly Hallows. If I were to get nitpicky... Harry/Ginny in the film does not work for me. But that was basically the key issue I had and above all I just thought the film was tremendous, PARTICULARLY for the fans. It was great.

I hope you can fight the 'flu off. I had a sort of 48 hour version of it earlier last week and it was horrible... having to write essays with the 'flu made it simply unbearable. BUT I always find eating salty things and drinking bubbly things (like coke, or even just fizzy water) helps me, or at least helps me get through it without anyone having to peel me off the floor in the end.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving! I shall be inhabiting a lonely, empty campus, drinking tea and... of course... writing essays.

I haven't even made it to 6,000 words in NaNoWriMo. You're doing better than I am, so think of it that way.

-I loved DH. Definitely my favorite Harry Potter movie. It thought it was the best adaptation of the book they've done while still being cinematic. But I agree with your points.
-I'm sure you didn't do as bad on your French exam as you think you did. :)
-I'm doing NANOWRIMO, but failing miserably, because I have so many other projects floating around in my head and I know that the one I chose to do is way out of my writing ability right now, so I'm at 12,000 words.
-Drink lots of orange juice. I don't care if you don't like orange juice, I don't. Just drink it and drink it in buckets. Seriously.
-So far, I'm loving presence. I've always wanted a big sister just like you, so it's cool. :)

Ah, Deathly Hallows. I still need to see it again to get my thoughts in order, but:
-I love Fred and George to ridiculous degrees.
-I did not enjoy the Harry and Hermione dancing scene. I understood the purpose behind it, but thought the way it was executed did not serve that purpose.
-I was really glad Bill existed.
-I think I've gotten to the point where movie-Voldemort is no longer scary, because my sister and I have an nonsensical inside joke about Ralph Fiennes' very existence. We love Ralph Fiennes, I think he's a brilliant actor... but every time he appears on the screen as Voldemort, I just sort of crack up. Which is both a good and a bad thing, I guess.
-Harry's random shard of mirror went completely unexplained. In the books, you know it's from Sirius's two way mirror, but in the movie, it's just like, Oh, by the way, Harry keeps a piece of a mirror in his sock.
-The Horcrux was SO FREAKING SCARY and I loved it.

Hope you feel better, Hayley!

I haven't seen deathly Hallows yet, but SO excited. I find that when confronted with anything flu like, I eat a plate of vegetables - such as broccoli, carrots, potatoes, anything 'good' and hope for the best. 90% of the time it really works! Just think happy thoughts and you will hopefully get by with just the sniffles!

As for presence - It's a great idea and I love it so far. Seems like there is going to be a lot of people asking for advise! Good luck with it!! :)

I'm A+

I also LOVED Deathly Hallows. I wish we could have seen Luna's room, but they make up for it when everyone is at Malfoy manor and no one can figure out if Harry is actually Harry and then they go to the dungeon and Luna's just like, Hey Harry. So great. I could really talk about it forever, but I'll stop here. Just know that I liked it.

Hope you enjoy your break and don't get sick. Happy Thanksgiving :)

This may be controversial but I have not seen Deathly Hallows and have no intention to. However, I would like to justify this slightly by mentioning that I am a manager at a cinema and therefore am likely to see bits and pieces of it during my work day.

However, for a different viewpoint, it is a crazy film to witness from the confines of a cinema. It certainly draws out the passion in some people, although if you could spread your visits out so that we don't have to deal with 1000 people all entering our (relatively small-foyer-ed) cinema at the same time, that would be great!!

Still love the blog though! And agree that I feel spoiled getting a blog and video within hours of each other

-I've been writing and eating. xD
-SO AGREED. Deathly Hallows part 1 was definitely my favorite of the movies. I was a little depressed that they messed up the part where they go, "No, Dumbledore must have always knwon you'd want to come back," but that disappeared with the fire and the new wand. Bahaha. Dobby made me sob, and I was sad that Harry didn't get to be Barry (Er, I think it was Barry) until Kayley set me straight about people want to see Daniel and not some random. ^^
-Never gotten the flu.
-Blodd type? Haha, no clue. :D
What's your word count? You sound like you're writing, but you haven't been updating on the site. DX

Doesn't Harry say the same thing about the Trace in the book, though? Maybe not word for word, but he doesn't know what the Trace is until he asks. Like, it's been used before (i.e. Harry fighting off the dementors in Order of the Phoenix) but it wasn't explicitly mentioned before Deathly Hallows.

P.S. I'm sure all of your second grade essays were quite the essence of artistry and skill. Feel better! :)

Deathly Hallows was the first movie that awakened the feelings that I get from the books. The characters FELT like themselves and I want to watch it many, many more times.

I'm B+, I lovelovelove Presence, and I hope you don't get the puking aspects of the flu.

~ I'm really hoping you don't get the flu, but if you do you will need:
~Vegetables, even if you don't like them, and lots of them.
~Vitamin C, stat!
~ Lots of fluids, water works of course but my mom always gave me 7-up or Sprite and it always helped, though not sure why.

~ I agree with everyone else, I am sure you did better on your exam than you think you did.

~ I have no clue what blood type I am

~I LOVED, LOVED Deathly Hallows. There weren't any parts that bugged me but then I haven't read the book yet (almost there do, I'm thisclose to finishing Goblet of Fire and then I'm moving directly on to the rest of the series.)I sobbed concerning Dobby and loved the dance scene. I do have to say I was a bit 'shocked' at the kiss scene, just because it took me a second to go "oh, they aren't wearing any clothes". *sigh*

~ I have a major crush on the Weasley twins. MAJOR.

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday!!!

Deathly Hallows was freaking AMAZING! I cried the whole time, but only because it was so wonderful. The thing that gets me is their friendship - and I think the actors do an excellent job of conveying it onto the screen. It was my favorite Potter yet, too.

And although I agree with you about your complaints, I do have to argue that although it requires a lot of unnecessary baggage, Hermione's wardrobe is awesome.

Responses to your DH Observations

1. I dunno, it was in the book that way too. Maybe he was just proud of his heritage. Or, maybe there was another Regulus Black death eater??
2. What? Just because she's running from the law and trying to defeat evil incarnate means a girl can't look good doing it?
3. Dementors were never able to pass through doors, why should elevators be different? Remember the whole train carriage scene from book/movie 3 with the creepy hand opening the door? They will still able to suck through them though.
4. Haha, no idea! I think he had part of Nagini's soul as well.
5. Harry was an idiot to wizarding things in the books too.
6. Cause he's a BAMF w/ the sword of Gryffindor!!! That's why!

Anonymous said...

DH was amazing...I've enjoyed them all, but this one was just different. I especially loved the telling of the 3 Brothers.

As for Harry asking what the trace is, he implies he doesn't know it in the book and Mad Eye gives the explanation there as well...so yeah.
However, I wondered the exact same thing about dementors, but they couldn't go through the doors on Hogwarts Express either, iirc. Maybe doors are enchanted, unless you are Snape of course ;)

Since you asked, I personally felt like the Deathly Hallow was good, but it could have been better. My complaints?

--Fading out of each scene. I felt like it added unneeded length to the movie. I would have liked it better if they kept to the same dynamic of the past movies and just let the camera image sit for a moment in the silence watching the characters before jumpcutting to the next scene. I don't know, maybe its because the fading out technique isn't used much anymore, but that just really annoyed me.

--while it was a very good adaptation, they still kept it very basic. They removed a lot of the wedding scene in the book (such as Krum's last moment as a supporting character and the fact that Harry didn't look like Harry in it) and they removed Luna's, Lupin's, and Kreecher's finest moments in the books: Harry and Kreecher actually liking each other, Lupin trying to escape his fear and guilt by attempting to join the trio, and Luna's paintings in her room. Oh! And the Crumple-Horned Snorkack horn. That was missed.

--Harry and Hermione dancing. See, there wouldn't be anything wrong with that... if the actors hadn't played it the way they had. Har/mione shippers were probably chomping at the bit to start writing fanfics off of that scene.

But really, there were more pros than cons on my list.

--"Just keep talking about that little ball of light hitting you in the chest."

--"Dobby didn't mean to kill anyone. Only maim, or seriously injure." Really, any scene with Dobby in it was either hysterical or heartbreaking. ("Dobby is with his friends...")

--Bellatrix's torturing Hermione was very twisted and slightly disturbing, but I'm somewhat relieved that we didn't see too much. It was really hard to watch Hermione freaking out like that when we know what's at stake here. (And when Bellatrix first started carving Mudblood into Hermione's arm, my friend and I thought that she was biting her.)

--Reg Cattermole/Ron Weasley. Must I say more? XD

--Tale of Three Brothers. Other than the locket scene and maybe even the Bathilda scene, this one was done the best by far. The man they chose to play Xeno, too, was awesome.

--The Godric's Hollow scene, from the graveyard to trying to escape from Bathilda's house. Nagini was at her scariest here, and I was hiding under the Powerpuff Girls blanket I had brought with me to the midnight premiere after crawling out of bed at 10:30 at night. XD

I thought I was the only one to think it was insanely stupid that Regulus put his full name on his door! Who does that?! And the "what's the trace?" line pissed me off as well, Harry can be stupid but not that stupid. But overall, I loved it very, very much and would love to see it more, I've currently only seen it twice as well.

I have no idea what my blood type is an as for the flu I'd say take advantage of it by watching as much tv and movies as possible, that's what I do.

Have a great Thanksgiving, Hayley, and I look forward to seeing you on the interwebz soon. =)

To avoid the flu keep warm. Certain viruses can only "manifest" (too tired to think of proper vocab) in colder environments, specifically the norovirus (the one that makes you puke over and over again). Which is why a lot of people wake up in the middle of the night with the flu; your body temperature drops as you sleep. So buy a heated blanket and drink lots of warm liquids to keep your body temperature up, try not to go outside, put a space heater in your room, etc, etc.

I loved Deathly Hallows part 1 and can't wait for part 2. I cried when Hedwig died protecting Harry.

Briana said...

Deathly Hallows was my favorite film thus far, but I still had a few complaints.

It would have been nice if Kreecher had his moment with Harry when he was given the locket. However, I have become accustomed to the movies being biased against House-elves. S.P.E.W. UNITE!

I wish they would have shown Kendra and Ariana's graves in Godric's Hollow.

And I was really mad that Voldemort got the Elder wand at the end. I understand that for the sake of the films, it was a good ending, having just showed a major scene and ending it with a cliff-hanger. But one of Harry's defining moments was when he chose to go after the Horcruxes and not the Hallows. They were at Shell Cottage and he knew Voldemort was going for the Elder wand, and he might have been able to try to get it. But he chose the Horcruxes, and in a way proved that he was worthy to wield the Hallows. I just hope they're able to redeem that in the next movie, because it was really important, at least to me, in the book.

Something I REALLY liked though was Hedwig protecting Harry and getting killed as a result. I thought it was a great send-off for Harry's first friend and I have to admit I cried a bit.

-As for the flu . . . I survived Swine '09, anddd yeah. No fun. Start medicating now to avoid it crashing into you at the speed of light?

I loved Deathly Hallows Pt 1. My only real complaint is the film makers continuing to ship Harry/Hermione so hard. Forming nonexistant love triangles is annoying. Plus it completely changes Harry's character and lessens the beauty of his and Hermione's and his and Ron's relationship.

Hope you don't get sick!

I love Deathly Hallows, and one of your points about the movie is what irritated me the most : " It's unfair to Harry to make him say idiotic things like "What's the trace?" just to reiterate plot pointsaaa"

I completely agree. I hate how the movies seem to be maid for soley movie fans rather than "REAL" fans. Maybe that's just me being a baby about it. But I don't like to see my characters dumbed down for the benefit of an audiance that is too lazy to read the original.

I'm definitely looking forward to see it again though :D

I loved your video, by the way. I seem to not fit in with people at my school, even my friends because I don't always have the same interests as they do for example, Cosmo Magizine :P You seem to understand exactly why I can't stand most magazines.. or media. It makes me happy to know that girls out there think they way I do.

I loved Deathly Hallows so much. I cried right from the beginning, and was a complete mess by the end. My two main complaints are 1) Harry didn't cast Expelliarmus while the Death Eaters were chasing them to the safehouse(s), and 2) Harry wasn't super-nice to Kreacher and he didn't give him the decoy locket, and in turn, Kreacher didn't become really loyal to Harry and cook them dinner and whatnot, which is one part I always really liked, because at the end Kreacher leads the house elves out of the castle yelling something about defending Harry, which now either won't happen or it'll be played off like Harry totally was really nice to Kreacher when really he wasn't.

Anonymous said...

Actually, Harry didn't know what the trace was in the book either. I started rereading this morning and I'm too lazy to look for the exact quote, but it was like...
Mad-eye: "Blah blah we have to travel in these crazy ways because you still have the trace on you until your birthday"
Harry: The tra--?
Mad-Eye: --THE TRACE, JEEZ.

-I feel like a failure (but not really). I got really behind on NaNoWriMo and I haven't written in about a week, making me even farther behind. I gotta try to catch up.
-Deathly Hallows was the BEST! I'm seeing it for the third time on Friday with my mom. I'm super excited. I'm pretty happy with the movie, minus a few things that were left out, such as Dudley's goodbye to Harry and Lupin and Harry's fight. As it is, Deathly Hallows Pt 1 is the best movie so far and I cant wait for Part 2! :)
-I've been sick lately as well. It's not the flu, though, just a really bad cold. I've had a dreadfully sore throat. It was so bad at one point that I couldn't talk for a few days. My ears are hurting too, but I'm guessing that's just because of my throat. I hope that if you do get sick, you get over it quickly and get back to being your erratic, wild, beautiful and obnoxious (but in a good way!) self!

Keep being absolutely wonderful!
-Emily

I'm sure that Book Harry asks Moody what 'the trace' is as well. It isn't provided with a proper concept until the seventh book. Until then, it's just assumed that the ministry is just all knowing and can tell if you use magic underage. So explaining it in the movie is keeping up with the book =]'
One 'dumb thing" Movie Harry says that annoyed me beyond end was along the lines of "This is where I was born, Hermione, why would I come back as somebody else?" When Harry and Hermione go to Godric's Hollow. It feels like that dialog is insulting Jo for having her characters use polyjuice potion in the same scene.

Anyway, /rant. I hope you get the chance to blog a little more often. We miss you!

I still haven't seen Deathly Hallows Pt 1 yet, but that seems to go along with my tradition of not seeing the movies until at least a week after their release dates...

I'm also horribly behind on NaNo, but I'm already farther than I got last year, so even if I don't get to 50,000, I'll still feel like I've achieved something.

As for the flu, I have no idea. I've never had the flu before, at least not to my knowledge. Maybe I did when I was too little to really know anything about any illness I had except that it made me feel bad.

A surge of absurd late night energy when I should be catching up on my sleep means that I will answer all of your questions!

-I've been drowning in school work and more or less ignoring my NaNoWriMo story which is rather sad, but alas, grades come first.
-I really, really loved Deathly Hallows, which was a pleasant surprise. Naturally I had a lot of nit-picky book loyalist complaints but overall I thought it was a great adaptation and by far the best in the series. My main issue was the lack of peacock at Malfoy Manor...but I'm moving on somehow.
-I am the last person to give advice on how to fight a flu. because I am pretty sure that I have no immune system. Seriously, if there is any kind of sickness or bug popping up like within a 40 mile radius of me, I'll be sick, without fail. It's kind of terrible. So yeah, um, vitamin C, lots of rest, hope you have more aggressive white blood cells than I do?
- My blood type is A negative. I'm apparently quite rare.
-Presence was an awesome idea, and I am really excited to see where it goes!

Oh and, Happy Thanksgiving!!

Also, i didn't get Scrimgeour's Welsh accent.. I didn't remember him being Welsh in the book, my whole screen was laughing because his accent was not good, and we're Welsh xD

I loved Deathly Hallows! DH is my least favorite book, but it's my favorite movie- but yeah, about the coats, I could help but wonder, in that part with the Snatchers and Hermione, where she says he could smell her perfume, why the hell was she wearing purfume?! Seriously... Also, although Ron and Harry's relationship was a lot better than it's been in pervious movies, I really missed the "he knew you would want to come back" line from Harry and the "she's like a sister to me, you know that?" after the horcrux super hawt faux makeout session. I also wish we had seen more of Kreacher, although I wou;dn't have been quite as effective since all he does in movie five is walk around grumbling "filthy mudbloods", so the change in him wouldn't really seem as striking. Also Malfoy Manor, yeah, Ron and Hermione are there, who the hell else would they be with besides Harry? otherwise, I loved it, especially the little Tale of Three Brothers animation and Harry and Hermiones dance and everything with Dobby and the whole Ministry of Magic, although I wish Harry had taken Moody's eye. also Moody's death wasjust like nothing... after the movie, my mom hadn't even realized he had died.

I'm in the same boat for NaNoWriMo...I had to take a week off because of personal problems as well as a simply astounding amount of schoolwork. I'm horribly behind (only just reached 25K...can I write half a novel in 5 days??) but I'm not giving up. I'm going to keep writing. Last year I just gave up and I'm not proud of it. This time, even if I lose, I'm going to keep writing until November 30.

And I haven't seen Deathly Hallows yet so I don't have a comment. I feel like such a horrible Harry Potter fan. I made it to every other midnight release for the books and movies since Order of the Phoenix...but this year I was literally so broke I couldn't afford the ticket on my own so I had to wait until my Mommy could go with me and buy my ticket (and she can't go see it until tomorrow!). Probably the saddest moment of my experience as a broke college student...

Wait, so you weren't bothered in DH when Hagrid and Harry have a quasi-Muggle car chase, but nobody seems to notice that Harry is sprinting along the top of a double-decker bus? That was the worst moment for me.

I LOVED Deathly Hallows. It was my favorite book in the series, so I loved how true to the book the film was. There were even a couple things, like the destroying of the locket, that were better than I pictured them in my head. (And I thought that scene was better because it was so huge and terrifying, even though I pictured it being small. Not because Harry and Hermione get it on.) My main complaints were that Hermione didn't freak out enough when Ron came back, and that Ron didn't freak out enough in the basement of Malfoy Manor. But other than that I was really impressed with the acting and the whole film in generel.
You're welcome for the distraction! :)

I ADORED deathly hallows. My birthday was November 19, so when the theater went dark at 12:01 at the midnight showing, I turned 18. It was amazing. And then the whole theater sang happy birthday to me :)

The were a few different things I saw as off. Where the hell was the invisibility cloak? What about poor Kreacher's story? And why didn't they explain the taboo or whatever on Voldemort's name?

other than that: completely spectacular. loved it. this july is going to be so sad when it's all over for real

tbh...Given the fact I had a massive amount of space in a tiny/almost weightless bag I think i'd take a few coats...

You guys have either never been camping with snow on the ground OR haven't thought the whole 'on the run' thing through :P

Would you want death-eaters to be able to pass around a description of what you're wearing?

I just want to say that you are an incredible writer, and when (yes, when) you publish your first novel, I will definitely buy it! :)

Hmmm, Deathly Hallows. I have seen it twice, and I really, really, really loved it. There are a few minor things I wish they'd include, like saying goodbye to the Dursleys ("I don't think you're a waste of space"), Viktor Krum at the wedding and Luna's bedroom.
But all in all, I think they did a wonderful job. I'm crossing my fingers for the last one.

Deathly Hallows was SO GOOD (although Sorcerer's Stone will always hold my favorite spot)! Some complaints: If Dudley is in the movie at all, they should at least show his face! I don't like the way they make patronuses look all wispy and blue, but I guess they still serve their purpose. General Harry/Ginny awkwardness. Yeah, just other nit-picky things but I loved it!

I'm glad Presence is doing so well already, and I'm excited to be a part of it from the beginning and see what it becomes!

Dear Hayley,
back in the day (this may have been 2009) you posted a song you said was stuck in your head. It was french and I know the tune but obviously I can't write the tune for you... it said oublier at one point and in the video they was a young woman. Do you remember? Please. I can't function.

I feel so sick right now. I'm probably getting the flu. Which sucks cause opening night of my high school play is next week. :(

I LOVED Deathly Hallows. I've only seen it once, so the more I watch it, the more I might dislike it. But right now, it's amazing. I loved how they did horcrux-harry and hermione. so beautiful yet so demonic. I loved the added touch of carving MUDBLOOD into hermione's skin.

Otherwise school sucks, etc, etc.

<3 I love hearing from you.

Don't worry too much about French class! I've taken six years of the language and got a D my last semester, but somehow still managed to get a minor in it. So no matter what, anything is possible.

Also I completely agree on your Harry Potter points, I posted mine on my tumblr blog: http://ohemgeeitslaura.tumblr.com/post/1634344454/here-it-goes

(The link isn't meant as an "ZOMG you have to check out my blog!" type link, just a "in case you're interested in other Deathly Hallows thoughts" type link)

Love your blog! You're wonderful, Hayley!

I feel that my complaints about Deathly Hallows are legitimate as well. I really only have 3. 1) I wish they hadn't taken out the Grindlewald being a bad guy plot. Yes, I understand that if they never left anything out, the movies would be 6 hours long, but I have no problem with that. 2) Emma Watson is just too damn pretty. That's more my jealousy than actual HP related problems, but seriously. She's pretty, smart, good at acting, I've heard that she can sing well, and she might be starting her own fashion line, because she might want to be a designer and is really good at it. It's just really not fair. 3) WHERE ARE THE PEACOCKS AT MALFOY MANOR?!?!

As others have probably said:

1. Regulus has his full name on the bedroom door in the book so I don't understand this as a movie criticism, 2. because Hermione is a babe, duh, 3. valid point is valid, 4. um, 5. Harry doesn't know what the Trace is in the book either so I don't get your point, 6. because he's magical!

What were my thoughts on Deathly Hallows?
I loved it, except for the part where Pettigrew didn't die. I think about that moment and just feel utterly confused.
WHY WHY WHY WHY would you cut that?!?

Anonymous said...

1) Why would Regulus have his full name on his bedroom door?
In the book it's described as a "pompous little sign" so he presumably has his whole name on there cause he was a pompous person.

2) Why would Hermione pack more than one coat?
She knew that if they had to leave quickly they probably wouldn't be coming back for a while, so I guess she would've wanted some extra clothes for all those weeks.

3) Since when are elevator doors impermeable to Dementors?
Dementors are actually solid. They have bodies beneath the cloaks.

4) Why is Movie!Voldemort always so... green?
It's the lighting they always put him in in order to make everything more evil and mysterious.

5) It's unfair to Harry to make him say idiotic things like "What's the trace?" just to reiterate plot points.
I don't really find this unfair, but that's your opinion, not a question, so nevermind me. :)

6) How did Ron not get hypothermia after he crawled out of ice water, fully clothed, and then hung out for fifteen minutes?
No idea, but I'm betting he used some sort of charm to dry off. I did wonder why Hermione was always outside reading in the snow, though.

So yep, those are just my answers. I've read the books pretty carefully, so that's where I'm getting most of it.

:)

Sorry for this non-Deathly Hallows comment... but just wanted to say: You keep on mentioning NaNoWriMo and that you want to be a writer and all... but can we ever see something you've written? Pleeeease? I'm really really curious, and I know others must be too! We already know that you're an awesome blogger, so you've pretty much got nothing to lose!

Consider showing us some of your writing? Even if it's just a smidge?
