EGOT

Today is awesome because...

I don't get many chances to check my post office box, but its contents never fail to make my mouth gape open like a catfish. Someone-- I'M LOOKING AT YOU GUYS-- made me the proud owner of this little gem. For those out of the loop, it's a reference to 30 Rock, my favorite TV writing alive right now, and stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. The life goal of Tracy Morgan's eccentric character now lives around my neck. I am giddy, I am gleeful, I am grateful. It came straight from the artist, though, so I don't know who sent it to me. If you're reading this, show yourself!

I spent my morning amusing myself with your Pottermore surveys. Some of you had seriously charming responses to how your usernames represent you. (Especially yours, EJ!) Also, a surprising number of us are either cats or dogs at heart, and you know what? It makes sense. We're the types of people who spend a lot of time reading and sitting on our computers. We're domesticated. I feel that. Anyway, it makes me smile to know that I'm not alone in obsessing over this website before it even begins. Look at you people, validating my weird ass refusal to mature beyond paying $30 for a piece of wood....

On that note, we've just narrowly escaped Yaxley in my reread of Deathly Hallows, so I'm off for the night. Once again, thank you for being quirky and interesting in my comments, thank you for sending me amazing shit in the mail, and thank you for just hanging out with me every day this month. I love you guys. See you tomorrow!

  2. Aw I missed filling out the Pottermore survey yesterday so I'm doing it here today, si vous plait!

    1. What's your Pottermore username?
    HexSparks95
    2. What House do you think it sounds like?
I think it sounds like Gryffindor if not only because I automatically associate the word "hex" with Ginny Weasley due to her famous bat bogey hexes.
    3. What House do you want to be in?
I've been a self-named Hufflepuff for the last few years but I think I'll accept whatever I'm placed in.
    4. Does your username relate to you at all?
Not particularly any more than because it has a letter K in it and my name has a K in it? I do love it though. Hexes make sparks. Snazzy.
    5. What kind of wand would you wish to get?
No preference to this one. A friend got me the elder wand from WWoHP and I hadn't even thought about the possibility of getting wands on Pottermore but again, I trust what will be given to me!
    6. Are you pure, half-blooded or Muggle born?
    I'm gonna say half-blood.
    7. Which day did you get into Pottermore?
    Day 3!
    8. What shape is your Patronus?
    Flying Squirrel?
    9. What does your boggart look like?
Me failing at something. Me being alone and losing my loved ones. Snakes or critters with a trabillion legs.
    10. Would you rather be an Animagus or a Matamorphmagus? Metamorphmagus
    11. If you were an Animagus, what animal would you be? Something like a chipmunk or squirrel or rabbit, I think.

I agree that you'd be some kind of cat. Cats are so versatile and I think that fits in with your personality. They can be playful and weird, and then ten minutes later saunter around the house like they own the place. I don't mean to say you're arrogant or a saunter-er but I can associate your sarcastic sense of humor with a cat during one of its pah-silly-humans! kind of moods.

  3. So jealous of the EGOT necklace! Haha. And while I didn't get a chance to fill out that Pottermore survey, I am indeed obsessing over the website before it has opened. <3

  4. I've really gotta catch up on my 30 Rock. The last episode I watched was the Sandwich Day one, and I couldn't stop laughing!

  5. I don't think that I will ever mature past paying $30 for a piece of wood. xD

Also, I listened to your album today (well, technically yesterday). It's so brilliant. You are truly a genius on the recorder. I can assure that I was left breathless. ;)

    Love you, Hayley! :)

  6. I am spending my summer rereading the Harry Potter series. It really is fantastic! I am a 100 pages+ into Phoenix and in my opinion it really begins now... the reason I will never stop loving these books. I both envy and pity people who haven't yet read these wonders. I do feel extremely fortunate to have grown up alongside Harry though, being 17 when he was 17. Tthese book will go down in history - and we were there when it all happened!

  10. That necklace is spectacular! After reading about it so much here, I finally started watching 30 Rock about a week ago.

I am proud to say I am almost finished with season 5 and have ordered a batch (yes, a BATCH) of 30 Rock t-shirts.

...it only took a small chunk out of my scholarship money.

  11. I'm feeling pretty fantastic myself at the moment! Got my Pottermore email (not the welcome one) ANNNDDD I received two grants (one for $7,100 and another for $900, which means I no longer need student loans. TEARS OF JOY!) and I'm turning 19 tomorrow. :D I hope you have a fantastic day today-- I am feeling on top of the freaking world right now! :'D :'D :'D :'D

  12. My friend saw Tracy Morgan at our local supermarket today! He lives in the town over from mine. I thought of you!

I am ridiculously excited for Pottermore. What you said in your previous post about how Harry Potter is always there while everything else in our lives change so quickly really hit home for me. He's just always going to be there.

  13. Hi Hayley! I'm a huge fan of you and your blog (I've been here since day 1 tehe). A few things we have in common: we both have an obsession with food, and we both run. Cool stuff right there. Anyway, I'm leaving for my freshman year of college in about a week. Not gonna lie, I'm nervous. Could you write a post about your freshman year of college (particularly your first semester)? A few topics to maybe touch upon if the urge strikes: living away from home for the first time, the college course work load, having a roommate, making new friends, time management, etc.
Thank you for everything! You are such a beautiful person inside and out. I can't wait to read your first novel one day :)
    DFTBA! -Mary

Research shows that folks that happen to be a lot more beneficial toward life usually are living lengthier in comparison with those who get worried constantly.
