200 Things

Aww. According to Blogger, this is my 200th post in the Hayleylujah Chorus. In celebration....

200 Things on My Mind Today:

1. I'm in class, and my health teacher (remember her? O'Donbridge?) is talking about the dangers of breast cancer. Now, breast cancer is scary, important, and definitely not something any woman should feel embarrassed about discussing, but instead of just saying, "Women should have mammograms and do self-checks every month," she's currently pantomiming a circular, rubbing motion around her old woman boob. Not for, like, a few seconds, just to demonstrate. She's been full-on groping herself for as long as I've been writing this paragraph. Am I wrong to feel uncomfortable?

2. I'm glad a lot of you were amused by yesterday's post. To answer a few questions, NO, I did NOT turn that in as an assignment. I just thought it would be funny to write a nauseatingly show-offy piece about how people like me are nauseatingly show-offy. Also, I legitimately appreciated the couple commenters who wanted to keep me in check by pointing out the hypocrisy of pointing out others' hypocrisies. I guess I wasn't clear enough, because that was sort of the point. My intention was to show how I'm just like the rest of them, who are just like everyone else. But, let me tell you-- I'm very grateful to know that, in the event I ever do say something mean or judgmental, I have supportive readers who care enough about me to point it out. :)

3. I'm going to a Ben Folds concert tonight! As soon as this class is over, I'm driving a few hours home from school, where I'm going to meet The Situation (who's currently driving the six hours to my house), then driving with him to Cleveland. Ahh. The adventures I get myself into in the pursuit of sexy pianists.

4. Unfortunately, I think I'll have to use my first free pass for fiveawesomegirls tonight. I tried to make a video yesterday, but instead, I ended up finishing my homework for the next week so I wouldn't have to worry about it. To make up for it, item number 5 will include everything I would have said in a video.

5[AG]. Hey, girls. It's Thursday! Today is awesome because I'm going to see Ben Folds. This is some footage of my college campus. It's beautiful. Here's a clip of me scaring some stranger by interrogating him about why his day is awesome. I miss you all, you're freaking great, and Liane, I'll see you tomorrow.

6. I really don't think I'll be able to come up with 194 other things to say.

7. This was a really dumb idea.

8. I'm chewing a piece of spearmint gum.

9. Jess called off work this weekend so the two of us can have an all-day Best Friend Fest on Saturday. I think I'll stop eating today so I can make room for the inevitable hot salsa-induced damage I'll be doing to my stomach lining.

10. Did I say 200? I meant ten. Ten Things on My Mind Today. That's what I said.

  1. At least you got to ten . . . :P

The cool thing about college campuses is that people are used to crazy people interrogating them (with or without cameras). At least, on mine, we get approached for psych studies on, like, a weekly basis. My first week someone walked up with a camera and asked, "How often do you masturbate?" Uh.

  2. Wow, me and my best friends are having a Girls Night extended Saturday and Friday. Lots of food and games! Sounds like a fun weekend you'll be having too! Sentence
    reversal...oh man

  3. FAIL! I'm getting my comments mixed up on different posts...my apologies. I'm just going to smile shyly and walk away now...haha!

  4. Have a good time at the concert.

Ah sexy pianists, will you always be our downfall? (And when I say we I mean everyone, everywhere. Who doesn't love a musician?)

  5. haha... 200 would be a fairly epic achievement.

    Enjoy Ben Folds!

  6. Jealous. Of. Your. Life. I would kill to see Ben Folds live! Enjoy!

  7. In response to point 1:

This exact thing has happened to me. I felt unconfomfortable too, as did everyone in the room, so I'm pretty sure it's not wrong to feel like that :)

  8. Oh man. Ben Folds is so amazing. I traveled 9 hours to see him in Fargo in October, and I would drop everything and do it again this weekend if the opportunity presented itself. I hope you guys have fun!

  9. Everytime I read your blog it makes me wish the next year and 5 months would hurry up and go so I can be heading off to uni.

Your life sounds so much better now you're out of high school and you sound so much happier... yeah everything you've already previously said.

I dunno, I'm just rambling. Have fun at the concert and your best friend fest then :)

  10. Though I am disappointed that I didn't get to read 200 HGH thoughts ... I'm glad that you made it to ten. =]

  11. 200 hundred thoughts would have been a pretty crazy achievement. Ten feels just right. :)
Hope you have a lot of fun at the concert, and a great Best Friend Fest with Jess. Those are always the best.

  14. Hayley, I'm so glad you posted early! I'm about to write my last exam of my first year of university and reading your blog always makes me happy, so now I'll be smiling through my sociology exam... maybe. Anyway, have a great time at the concert!

  15. Number one is creeping me out just hearing about it. Seriously, you should be ashamed of scarring our minds by posting that on the internet. Have a lovely time at your concert, and don't worry, we won't get you for missing one 5AG. Well, some of us might :)
Also, I'm terribly disappointed you only got to ten, that's just not commitment :P

  16. I'm sure there are at least 200 words........

  17. As a follow up to yesterday's post, may I say that your topic has kept my mind racing all day (I live in France so only saw the post this morning, and now it's evening). I'm among those who sort of pointed out the... well I wouldn't call it hypocrisy, but more the paradox. In turn, I would like to clarify that I did get the point, that you were including yourself in the mass. There was no negative critisism intended, only observation, just as much as yours.

... anyway, I was thinking a lot about what you wrote and found it to be a very interesting inner debate for the day. So thank you for that!

  18. It makes me so sad to not have a 5AG video today but if you are going to see Ben Folds, I guess I understand. Have a great time.

  19. Hayley, last night I dreamed that you had decided to hold some gathering thing, but I was for some reason the only one to show up, so we went out to eat at some sketchy Mexican restaurant and became best friends. It was awesome. And totally creepy now that I'm awake. Sorry. :P

  20. Ben Folds? I'm super jelly, i was trying to get to one of the chicago tour dates next week, but I can't make it

    ReplyDelete
  21. AWWWW that 5AG video sounded amaaaazing x'3

  22. Ben Folds?! You lucky girl!!!! And I would totally feel awkward if a teacher were molesting herself in front of a class for any length of time. Even if it were to raise Breast Cancer Awareness.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Glad you did find the time to make a 5AG video :D I saw it before this and was wondering why everyone in the comments were like "I thought you said you weren't going to make one" xD

    ReplyDelete
  24. Aw, I was totally looking forward to 200 Hayley-isms. Oh well hope the Ben Folds concert is amazing as I'm sure it will be!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Spearmint truly is the best gum flavour.
Hope you have fun at Ben Folds!
I'm going on a massive 2 week trip overseas without any family or friends tomorrow and I'm a tad bit scared. So I'll try to read this blog if I get access to a computer somewhere, but that's unlikely :(
Farewell Hayley and commenters. Hope that my plane(s) don't crash. . . see you in 2 weeks!

  26. I'm glad you found some time to make a video today because yours i love the most. <3

    Have fun with Ben! :)

  27. For a second there, I was like, "200??!??!?!?!" and then I saw that the little scroll thing wasn't THAT huge(that's what she said). I mean, I like your blog, but I want to actually get to sleep tonight ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Maybe if you'd made every word a thing you would have made it to 200?

Oh, well. How's that saying go anyways? Better to have attempted a list of 200 and lost than to never have attempted at all? I think I've heard it like that somewhere before...

At any rate, congrats on your 200th post. Can't wait to hear about the concert!

  29. Ben Folds is my favorite musician. I have tickets to see him on May 9th. :D
You will have to mention how the concert was in a blog post sometime soon... please. :)

I am thoroughly enjoying your BEDA, by the way.

  30. If this post was on facebook, youtube, or any other social media network, I'd hit the like button.

  31. This is more of a comment for your last post, not this one:

If you haven't yet read Haunted, by Chuck Palahniuk...do it. It's about a writer's retreat, and the sick ways they try to come up with a story. Basically.

Please read it. If nothing else, the glow-in-the-dark cover should be enticing enough.

  32. When I at first read 200 things I thought to myself "she's never going to get to 200" but I'm glad that you have big goals for yourself and realize when you are not going to be able to achieve them.

That guy in your video today was awesome. You could tell he just did not care about hearing why your day was awesome and then when he learned you just wanted to know why he thought it was awesome, he gave a cheesy answer that I guess he thought you wanted. Guys are weird...

Hope you had fun at your concert and have a great weekend. I look forward to reading tomorrow's post =)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Is it weird that I thought you HAD made a video today? I had no problem at all imagining you say this in your 5AG video. Strange.

    ReplyDelete
  34. when i read you were going to write 200 things i was like "oh my goodness, i hope she was kidding". i mean, you could have always gone with the cop out of 11-200: cookies
    or something along those lines.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I like that your video was exactly that and you did actually get it up. Yay you!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Jea. I like gum too.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ben Folds = Love!
    Plus, he 'wrote' a song about me. Only . . . not . . .
My name is Kylie and I am from Connecticut, though!

  39. When I first read that, I was like wow, 200, that will take a while...haha, but good call on the ten. I'm not even sure if I could come up with ten. haha. Have a fun time at the concert! :)

  40. You said "old woman boob".

I hope the concert was good.(you probably tweeted about it, or said in a newer post, but this is the past we're in, so I don't know that.[geeze Hayley, pay attention])

It was amusing having your voice in my head as I read #5.
