Blaaah. Hi, guys. Blaaaaah. Below are some scattered thoughts.
--Am I wrong for thinking it's inappropriate to write well-wishes on a dead person's facebook wall? A boy who graduated from my small high school died this week (I didn't really know him, but he was a friend of my sister's, and I'm casual friends with his brothers), and I just feel sick, seeing "Yo man ur fam is in my prayrs," followed by "5 people 'like' this." I don't know. Is this comforting to some people? Honestly, if it is, then I'm glad. But it sort of makes me cringe. It's not easy to think of things to say when an acquaintance loses a loved one, but don't they at least deserve a card?
--There's some kind of wild, loud chanting going on outside my window. "We're women. We're here. We're fabulous. Don't f*** with us." What is this? Do any of you know? It's becoming increasingly difficult to ignore, and, I mean, I will gladly refrain from f***ing with you, but could you please be fabulous elsewhere until 30 Rock is over?
--Lately, I've been craving some uninterrupted Alone Time, and I'm certainly going to get my fair share this weekend. Most of my friends are going home, so it appears I have three days of movies, sisterly bonding, and homeworking ahead of me. I'm sort of excited about it. And I don't mean "sort of" in the flirty understatement way. I don't really meaning "very, very excited." I mean what I said. I'm actually just... sort of excited. Here's hoping I won't just be lonely and bored.
--I ate too much today. Surprise. I wish I had as much willpower as my betta fish. Atlas stops eating when he's full. What does that say about me?
--Even though I already feel like I could puke, I need a taste of optimism. Tell me, readers, why is your day awesome?

Nail color: Bare. Working on it.
My day is awesome because I had a bunch of guys make me laugh hysterically while I made them do stupid games to win points. Made me feel better.
ReplyDeleteMy day is also awesome because I'm getting some Alone Time right now.
My day is awesome because I'm going to go to sleep very early tonight!
ReplyDeleteThe facebook thing seems kind of impersonal, and... I don't know. It's a little bit weird.
My day was aweseome because its almost friday and because we only have 24.5 days left of schoooooool!!
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because I got my cap and gown and I can't wait to graduate High School. And also because I had ice cream. Have a good weekend, Hayley!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand about the facebook thing. A guy from my high school took his life last year and everyone wrote on his facebook wall. I was very sad for him and his family but I did not think facebook is the best way to show it. I hope you don't get too bored this weekend. You could always make another video or do a blogtv show. Just some suggestions. Or read a book you have been meaning to. You will have plenty of time and no distractions. And as for the food thing, I am right there with you. I am the Hayley of my group of friends by being the "fat, ugly" one (which you are not at all) that eats all the time.
ReplyDeleteHelllo! My day was awesome because we are signing up for classes for next year (im going to be a high school junior) and I was inspired by your taking a higher level writing class to sign up for a senior level English elective about how justice and revenge plays out in literature and im really excited!
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because I'm going to Spring State at Princeton this weekend! Its an overnight debate conference, and it should be tons of fun! Its like a giant nerdfighter gathering- although a majority of the people don't know that they are nerdfighters! Still others do and that is why today is awesome! Also because the robot unicorn attack shirt that I ordered for my friends birthday finally came in the mail!
ReplyDeleteMy day was awesome because when I went outside for a lacrosse game today, I just felt so ...alive. The air was zizzling with electricity. Literally- there was lightning and our game was canceled so I got to go to math review. Whoo!
ReplyDeleteI feel like last night was a part of today so I would have to say it was very notsome. (Insert clever nickname here) was trying to be funny and just ended up making me cry. BUT he will be making it up to me by dancing to a Hilary Duff song in the middle of a parking lot this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAnyone want to nickname the boy for me? My creative energy has been spent.
My day was awesome because I went to the walk-in clinic to get a sore throat I've had for a week but just attributed to allergies checked out and it turned out that I have a small fish bone lodged in the little pocket-y part of my esophagus. This makes me laugh really hard. How many people can say that?
ReplyDeleteToday is notsome, actually...but...I guess I can say today is awesome because I just read Hayley Hoover's blog.
ReplyDeleteToday is awesome because I finally aquired Will Grayson, Will Grayson, and now I get to read it!
ReplyDeleteToday is awesome because I'm watching A League Of Their Own, one of my all-time favorite movies. ^_^ Oh, and today's also awesome because my mom made meatloaf for dinner, and I <3 meatloaf.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely about the facebook thing. One of my friends died last year, and some people write on her wall at least once a week. At that point, I think it's trying to show the world you're still mourning, rather than actually feeling sorrow.
ReplyDeleteAnd today is awesome because I played my new Ukulele in Spanish class instead of actually doing Spanish work. And the teacher was perfectly okay with it.
I think you heard the Take Back the Night March going on...it started around 7:30 I believe?
ReplyDeleteMy day was awesome because one of my classes was canceled so I had a nice 4 hour break to catch up on other stuff. (Read: creep on blogs).
Today is awesome because I found out that I don't have to do a gazillion hours worth of work on a project that is moving on to state competition- I just have to make a few changes and just see how it does.
ReplyDeleteWriting on dead people's facebook pages? ... That seems totally wrong to me, too. If they just shared some nice thoughts or memories about the person, MAYBE that'd be okay. But writing messages TO the person, as if they're going to be reading them from the afterlife? That's a bit creepy.
ReplyDeleteToday is awesome because my English teacher always gives me good scores on my essays and writes comments like "You are going to have no problem passing the AP test." I hope he's right. He's incompetent and I don't respect him in any way, but I hope he's right.
my day was awesome because i got to skype with my cousin for the first time in 3 months. he's studying abroad in england while i'm back home in california. i miss him!
ReplyDeleteyay for quality alone time!
My day is awesome because I'm twenty now. Yea.
ReplyDeleteToday is awesome because even though I spent the entire day feeling pretty crappy in a hung-over-while-not-actually-hung-over kind of way I just ate too many "chokladbollar" (look it up, it's delicious). And though I don't feel better physically, my fat-ass mind is at ease. Plus I saw Kick-Ass, it was brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI have a question, do you know why the word "I" is spelled with a capital letter? I've always wondered and you seem to know your English.
My day is awesome because I was having financial difficulties, but talking about unrelated subjects with my sorority sisters over dinner made it better for a few hours.
ReplyDeleteMy day is also awesome because one of those sisters gave me a loan that I really needed, and I know that I have the best friends :)
my day was awesome because it was "take your kid to work day" and i was one of the few that went to school and it turned out being one of the most fun days i've had in a long time. And yes, i am in high school, haha.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because I have bubble wrap.
ReplyDeleteYour fish has an awesome name xD
ReplyDeleteMy day was awesome because my classes were actually really interesting and fun (nerdiness ftw!)
Today is awesome because I stayed up until 4:00 this morning obsessing over the outline for my research paper.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thank you for your happy blog posts about college and what not. It gives me something to look forward to after I graduate my Hell High school. 3 more years to go.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about the dead people's facebook. I think that it should be left alone, and you should try to actually show you care by sending condolences to the family, and not the person's wall. There is a definite cringe factor there.
ReplyDeleteOn the up-side, today is awesome because I'm skipping school to go to six flags tomorrow!
I agree about Facebook. A group was created on Facebook to honor my friend who died in February. His girlfriend writes in it all of the time, saying things like "I miss you" and "Love you forever babyy." I'm okay with that, because that's how she feels she can talk to him. But people like her posts, and I wonder why people do that. She shouldn't have to miss him or talk to him on a Facebook group; he should be alive. Also, these groups allow people who didn't know him to rant on and on about how much they miss him. It's insensitive to the people who were actually friends with him.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a huge problem with posts like that on Facebook. My cousin died in November, and I was comforted to see so many people share memories and final remarks on her profile. I am fine with it as long as it is considerate and heartfelt...i.e. "Yo man ur fam is in my prayrs" does not do it for me.
ReplyDeleteI COMPLETELY AGREE with you about the facebook thing. This girl from my high school died a while back, and a ton of people were like, "RIP GIRL!" and "i miss u so much! cya later!"
ReplyDeleteIt's so disturbingly tastless.
Hi Hayley, one of my best friends (she lives in Texas and I'm Canadian) had a really close friend who took his own life recently. He was 13 and people are still writing on his facebook wall. Like, there were girls who were confessing to liking him, and I just thought it was all so weird and inappropriate. They were talking to him as if he could read them or something. The thing that really got to me though, were the people who really didn't know him, saying that he was their best friend and... Anyway, I'm rambling. I just completely agree with you. Like you said, the least they could do is a card, not "hey i miss u and its weird at school w/o u."
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to find out what your next nail color is. You know you're cool when...
ReplyDeleteAnd today is awesome because I actually felt like reading for first time in a long time.
Today is awesome because I am having AVPM marathon and it is so very lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy day was awesome because there was a guy giving away red bull in one of the elevators of my uni building.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the idea of the facebook thing, especially if the posts are so tacky. Its like what happened at my school when a girl died and a mass txt was sent around. To me it seemed inappropriate and certainly wasn't a very nice way of finding out.
Today is awesome because I just got asked to prom! :)
ReplyDeleteMy day was awesome because I finished a Going Bovine by Libba Bray, an AWESOME book that I highly recommend. Congrats Claire! Have fun at prom
ReplyDeleteMy day's awesome because I'm currently watching you on blogTV.
ReplyDeletePJ is quite hilarious, and he just pulled out Jesus. That is kind of creepy. And now you're semi-failing at singing Lauren's "I'm Rapping".
Your hair is totally cool right now too. You've got the whole "let's pretend I'm a unicorn" thing going on. It suits you.
Also, my 18th birthday is tomorrow! I can vote, which is good because there are some primaries for state office coming up that I want to take part in.
And now you're singing Rent so I'm going to wrap this up. Always wonderful to read your blog. Now I'm going back to stare at your lovely face!
Today is awesome because I just found out the Whomping Willows, Draco and the Malfoys, and Justin Finch Fletchley and the Sugar Quills are playing a show at RISD on Saturday (my school!!) First wizard rock show, I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteToday was awesome for several reasons.
ReplyDelete1) Summer has started for me. I finished exams on monday, then worked the whole day. Tuesday, I worked all day. Yesterday, I felt lazy and watched random TV shows on my computer all day and basically did nothing until I had to work in the evening. Today though, I went out and really celebrated the first day of my 4 months of summer vacation by buying new summer clothes
2) I got paid at midnight, and the paycheck was a whole heck of a lot larger than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise
3) I work Sat-Wed, so today was my first day off all week.
4) Tomorrow is a P.A day for the gradeschools, so my Mom doesnt have to work and we are hopefully going to see the backup plan.
As for the facebook thing, I think its a good thing at first, but it can become creepy. When I was in the 11th grade, this 9th grader passed away right before christmas. Her MySpace (this was right around the time that facebook was gaining momentum, but MySpace was still leading) was covered in condolences and messages. I have just finished my third year of university and people are still writing comments on this MySpace page, and it hasnt been altered at all since her death. I think that is a little over the top.
When a family friend took his life 2 years ago, facebook memorial groups popped up and his parents closed his page about a month after his funeral. I think its nice for the family at first, but then it just stalls the grieving process.
Sorry for the novel
Have some great alone time Hayley! Have a great weekend!
Hey Hayley. About the Facebook thing, I see what you mean, but I know that it can be healing for the family of the deceased. We lost my teen-aged brother to cancer last year, and while I don't really go and read his wall or anything, I know my parents, aunt, and a couple other family members do. I'm not sure how, but it's helping them. Most of the people who posted at the time of his death were friends of my brother and for the most part too young to do something more personal for our family.
ReplyDeleteI definitely see how people could also feel offended or something by Facebook though. I guess it depends on the family and stuff.
My day is awesome because I just woke up from a nap where I dreamed I went to Hogwarts and participated in the dueling club. Easily made my day.
ReplyDeleteMy day was awesome because I met the newest member of my family today.
ReplyDeleteThe facebook wall thing is creepy. Someone I went to high school with committed suicide this year and people still write on her wall about how they miss her. It's really weird. I don't think that I would want my facebook to stay up after I died the idea creeps me out. I actually thought about it quite a bit. It's so weird to think about.
ReplyDeleteToday was awesome because I went to see Kenny Chesney 3D. yay!
Why is your fish named Atlas?
ReplyDeleteI just got back from my school's production of Guys and Dolls, and it was great.
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm sitting on my bed watching Season 1 of House with my roommate.
Oh, and tomorrow is Friday.
Enjoy your weekend!
I really don't care for posting on facebook of someone who died. It the person was truly your friend, then go see their familly or at least send a card. A lot of people friend anyone on facebook without really knowing them.
ReplyDeleteToday was awesome because I just watched you and pj on blogtv.
The graduating class of the school I work at were outside the entire afternoon screeching and getting cars to honk.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because now I know that there are other people in the world who understand my irritation at public yelling.
You're awesome You should spend time with your awesome self.
Writing on a dead person's wall is insensitive. The family and friends deserve more than that. I should know.
ReplyDeleteThis is my last week of classes! That is why today is awesome. I never have to go back to this college. Ever. I'm excited to move on. I finished my final photography projects and never have to speak a german word ever again. Ihop is good.
AAAAAND... It's Earth Day.
my day was awesome because of bounce houses and engineering nerds (: but also it was bad because i discovered that, I AM ALLERGIC TO CHIPOTLE!!!! i feel you are the only one who can fully appreciate my pain ):
ReplyDeleteMy day was awesome because I spent two hours at work and I love my job. Because I watched Bones with one of my best friends and we squealed like little girls at inappropriate moments. Because I wormed my way in to a creative writing class next semester!
ReplyDeleteAgree to the facebook sitch. I think people rely way too much on FaceBook these days and it's annoying. People seem to have forgotten how to do things before it existed. I deleted my profile over a year ago and have no regrets!
ReplyDeleteToday was awesome because my sister and some of her friends road tripped up to Philly to see a show and we met Lady Danville and they are more amazinger in person and I love them. I don't know if you're familiar with the Dorm Life web series but that's how I was introduced to Lady Danville and how I became a fan of theirs. You should definitely check them out. My favorite thing about them is their amazingggg ability to harmonize and blend and sound like heaven. All this may be blasphemous (sp?) to you since your boyfriend is mother effing Mike Lombardo but it would do you good to listen to some Lady Danville!! :)
Seriously, awesome day because I love them so much. *sigh*
My day was awesome because I got a bunch of hugs from a class full of preschoolers.
ReplyDeleteI also have the same questions about internet consoling. Facebook comments just seem so easy and impersonal. Like you said, you'd think if you were that deeply concerned you'd want to send a card or make a phone call or something that requires more than a few seconds of thought? But I guess the other side of it is that you don't want to bombard the family when they probably just want peace and quiet and time with each other.
My dad died two years ago, but I didn't really tell anyone when he was sick a few weeks before it happened because I already had such a great support system with my family and my boyfriend that by the time I got in contact with anyone else I didn't want to talk about it anymore, I just wanted a bit of normalcy. But then when my dad did eventually die, I needed to tell people. I made it through about 5 phone calls before I felt exhausted. I felt really weird about it, but I ended up tagging the rest of the people I thought might want to know in a Facebook note, because it just seemed like the easiest way to get in touch with everyone and provide clear and accurate information about all the services. A part of me felt like I was trivializing the situation by talking about it on Facebook, but another part of me was relieved that I didn't have to worry about making any more phone calls. It made my life a little easier, and that's what technology is for, right?
Idk, its interesting, because when you think about it, our generation gets to decide what is and isn't considered proper internet etiquette, since we're the first ones to have access to it for the greater part of our lives. I think a card, phone call, or anything that happens face to face is always going to mean more than anything that happens on Facebook, but I think we're going to have to accept that its been decided that social networking sites are a forum for EVERYTHING from narcissism to nonsense to actually serious situations.
You know what I think is weirder than "In Memory" Facebook groups? "In Memory" t-shirts. I'd really be interested to know if anyone else has seen them and what you think of them.
-Red
Well... since you asked...My day is awesome because in about 12 hours I will be done with my finals. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that is possibly the best feeling in the world. You have no idea.
Also, my day is awesome because I finally got caught up on your blog, and read that you answered my question. I LOVE SHARON OLDS.
Read this poem. If you like Sharon, I think you'll like this. It changed my life. It's called:
Resolutions in a Parked Car
by Olena Kalytiak Davis
It's hard to track down via the internet (which is sad), so I'll send you a copy in an e-mail. Trust me. It's worth it.
P.S -Sometimes I find that the most ridiculous moments happen when "most of my friends" are gone. If you make the most of your weekend, and try to do something totally and unabashedly off the wall, they'll regret going home and leaving you there.
I'll make this easier. Here's a link to it also.
ReplyDeletehttp://books.google.com/books?id=oektzICrOn0C&dq=And+Her+Soul+Out+of+Nothing&printsec=frontcover&source=bn&hl=en&ei=RTLRS8bGNIuQNo7s_ccO&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CBgQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q&f=false
Today (yesterday) was awesome because I got 6to meet John Green and David Levitan which is super cool because I know I want to write and it's great to see people who are actually doing it.
ReplyDeleteAlso the facebook wall thing seems ridiculous, I love technology, but in some cases the way people use it is ridiculous which makes me anxious about how attached to these machines we are. If I were a family member I don't think I could see this as comforting especially compare to a letter, or a phone call, or, well, well you get the picture.
--I know what you mean. When my bests friend's dad passed away people would leave comments on his old myspace page. I always wondered why they didn't just send a card.
ReplyDelete--I'm 80% sure that the loud women outside of your window was a sorority doing one of their chants. I know my sorority's chants can be loud and annoying, which is why we've always done them in the university center, away from the poor dorm dwellers.
--My day was more notsome than awesome. Tomorrow will be better though.
I have felt exactly the same way when people in my school have died and people did the very same thing. It's just uncomfortable and not personal like it needs to be. Seems to be another thing which is kind of new ground as the first generation of social networking, but yeah I agree, I hope we figure out a more dignified way. Closing the accounts straight away perhaps?
ReplyDeleteMy day is going to be awesome because I'm going to a proper post graduation job interview.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because I went to a concert tonight, after which I got to go on the band's tour bus and hang out with them. And they gave me a free t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteI hope your weekend is amazing.
My day is awesome because im FINALLY going to see Avatar today(for free!) :) Hayley you are awesome!<3
ReplyDeleteEmily
Today is awesome because I'll probably finish Perfect Fifths, and then it is about time that I put that books series down... for good. Or, you know, maybe a year. Gasp!
ReplyDeleteIn my senior year of high school, two of my classmates died in a house fire. Their closest friends got shirts made up with their picture, and dog tags with their names. People still post on their facebook walls even today, a year and a half later. Grieving is a strange process these days. Strange indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe facebook thing seems weird, i wouldn't want people writing on my wall after i die. Honestly i hope i'm alive a long long time after facebook has been abandoned for the next silly social network.
ReplyDeleteMy day is Notsome because i've got 3 days to do several weeks worth of work. Damn i'm good at procrastinating!
The facebook thing... I used to see that happening on myspace - it kind of seems like one of those things where people try to latch onto someone elses tragedy and get attention from it, like they want people to see that they knew someone who died? Does that make sense? (It's kind of like couples who leave each other facebook comments that seem more designed to say "oh look, we're a couple and we're in *love*" to everyone else than it is about actually saying things to each other.)
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's wrong exactly - I mean, it's not really personal enough for giving condolences to his family, but his facebook was... well, his. So saying something on there is like talking TO him, in a way. Kind of like how it feels more personal telling someone you miss them while visiting their grave than it would just saying you miss them out loud.
I'm probably not making sense, I fail at explaining what I mean about things like this.
Today is awesome because... um, because... OH! I just bought new books from Amazon before reading your blog. It makes my inner book whore squee in delight. (Although, I really don't need more books right now - my to be read pile could rival the size of Mount Rushmore.)
Getting good alone time is hard, sometimes I think I want to be alone and all I do is feel sorry for myself, but other times I'm alone on my own and end up having a blast when I had been really dreading said evening. Do what Amanda Palmer does and be Alone with strangers... ie sit in a coffeeshop and write in your journal/blog.
ReplyDeletemy day was awesome because when faced with the choice of either hiding from the world under my duvet or forcing myself to go to college, I actually chose the mature option, and now that I'm at college I know I'll have much more fun seeing my friends and going out tonight than I would have had sleeping the day away and pretending that everything bad doesn't exist.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because last night wifey and I put a security deposit down on our new apartment and it's FRIDAY!!!!! Hope you have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteBTW- Are you going to Infinitus?
And I agree, FB comments can be impersonal, but if one is merely an acquaintance, better than nothing!
Someone at my high school died last year, and while at first I thought the facebook comments were weird, I've come to appreciate them. It's nice to see when people are just thinking about him and decided to say so, and it was really touching on his last birthday.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because of you, Miss Hayley Gangster Hoover, as your blog is a constant source of amusement and inspiration. =]
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because tonight I get to see HAIR with my friend Griffin. Oh, and because I have today off school!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with the facebook thing. Cards are necessary.
My day is awesome because I *finally* finished cleaning the family bathroom. Do you know how much grime and disgusting stuff builds up in just one room? Bleh. Oh, and it's even more awesome because I now have Alone Time with my iPod and half an Easter egg. :D
ReplyDeleteAlso, I agree with the Facebook thing. That's really insensitive. Seriously, if you want to let the family know you're thinking of them, send them a card or tell them yourself. Ugh.
DFTBA. :)
Today was awesome because I wasn't hung over!!!
ReplyDeleteEr- I mean...today is awesome because I'm going to a carnival ^^
I want to get into this whole facebook conversation though. Some peoplemight mourne that way. Some people visit graves and write them letters and leave them on the grave. Facebook is so big that maybe people can't show their appreciation because of distance. The sentiment is the same. Welcome to the technology world people. It's weird to get used to, but I say that's just a new way of coping and remembering your friend, and there is nothing wrong with that.
ReplyDeleteI feel silly for getting excited to see that your fingernails were bare, but I remember getting to see the new color on blogtv--which I really liked, by the way.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because I decided twelve hours ago to go to my prom in a ridiculously 80s prom dress that keeps giving me flashbacks to Second Helpings and Jessica Darling.
ah, i'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome cause I finally figured out what the ducks symbolise in Catcher in the Rye. :)
My day is awesome because I have the most amazing friends in the world, and because of crackers with cheese on top, and because of Isabel Allende's last novel, and because of your blog.
ReplyDeleteMy day was awesome because of the sun. Sitting outside with my friends makes me feel more optimistic about life.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little freaked out right now though, 'cause a little while ago while I was out this man came up to me all "Hey, will you walk down there with me?"
Down the empty, kind of secluded alley? Um, no thanks.
My day was awesome because we went to the park after school and spun around until we got dizzy and threw Cherryade at each other.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because the Eclipse trailer came out. Yes, I know your opinions on Twilight are very clear, but I still love the books. Have you seen it? I know that Eclipse is your favourite of the Novels, and I just wondered what you thought? I'd be curious to know.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good time alone, and get plent of things done. We'll no doubt be updated about all of your adventures.
Have a good day!
Ben

Today is Awesome... because I actually made an effort to make myself a nice dinner, unlike the previous days, where a bag of chips had sufficed.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because of this: http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/03/how-fish-almost-destroyed-my-childhood.html
ReplyDelete(A couple people tweeted the link to some girl Allie's blog yesterday and this is my favorite post so far. You need to read it).
The Facebook thing? Awful. I'd never, ever do that. I can't even believe some people do it :/
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because... I don't know. Maybe because I've had the "Into the night" song all day. Or because I got picked to be on the Color guard of my school. Although it's rather difficult and tiring, I'm looking forward to the trips! :)
30 Rock? Freaking awesome. You've got good taste there, Hayley!
The Facebook thing makes me cringe too. :/
ReplyDeleteMy day was awesome because i finished WGWG today! And i will start with The Bermudez Triangle by MJ tonight. Good times :)
Hayley, you and PJ really made my night thursday on BlogTV. I was really blue and you guys totally turned my day around, so thank you, alot.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see you guys again
Last night I saw the Flaming Lips live, front row. Yes.
ReplyDeleteThe wild, loud chanting you hear was probably a "Take back the Night" rally. It's to increase awareness about sexual assault and rape, encouraging them to take back the night into the peaceful thing it once was. During April, they occur on college campuses.
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because I managed to avoid some awkwardness perpetuated by nerdfighterlike.
ReplyDeleteToday is awesome because Ninja Turtles are a key part of the theme this week on 5AG, and CollegeHumor did a sketch about them today. Also because I can promise you that I ate at least as much as you did, if not more.
ReplyDeleteThink of it this way: we're lucky to even have functional stomachs and taste buds. I read about a woman who was in a car accident and lost her sense of smell, and from then on food had no flavor for her. I don't know about you, but I don't think I would adjust so well to that :/
What happened to sexy/unsexy?!
ReplyDeleteMy day is awesome because I laughed harder than I have in a long time. And your blog made my day.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of the whole facebook thing, I definitely think that what you mentioned is cringe worthy. However, when one of my best friends from high school died, her facebook was actually really great. People didn't post well wishes for her family, but rather, told her that they'll miss her, and love her, and wrote some kind of memories or things they wish they could tell her. I know it was really comforting for her family to read the posts. It's still comforting for me, more than a year later, to write on her wall and tell her things.
ReplyDeleteAh, Thank you Hayley. Someone else has the same opinion as me about "facebook funerals". It really bothers me when people make facebook groups and comments about someone's death. I think it is far too private and personal for anyone to be shouting out to a social networking site. I know it has been hard on his family; They actually had to rush to make phone calls to close friends so they wouldn't find out through facebook first.
ReplyDelete
