Pretty/Ugly/Funny/Whaaat

I'm going to be honest with you. There are days when I look forward to nothing more than dazing off into the serene sanctuary of my blog, totally relaxing, coming up with bullshitty phrases like "serene sanctuary" simply to amuse myself. And then there are those rare days-- like this one-- when I can barely muster the energy to keep my eyes open, let alone to find something worthy of publishing to a large number of people.

Today was a pretty average day. I went to class, I talked to The Situation, I made a video, I watched Glee with my school friends, and I had a phone conversation with Jess about how beautiful glass is. I'm rather storyless, my current emotional state is not extreme in either direction, and it's 11:15 at night. So, uh.

Here's what I'm thinking. I'll start a new series, for those times when I need to get something posted, but have nothing to say. Every now and then, I'll update with either pictures, videos, or quotes (or any other medium I think of later) under four categories: Pretty, Ugly, Funny, and Whaaat. I'm coming up with this idea right now, as we speak, but I think I'll try to keep it going. So without further ado:

Pretty:I don't own any of these, but I'd like to. Especially the second from the left.

Ugly:
I have a folder on my desktop called "Dumb Children on Facebook," in which I place screenshots from the ridiculous posts that come up in my news feed.

Funny:
A total classic. Who doesn't love Pizza John?

Whaaat:
I've seen this picture a million times, and it still baffles me. No one else is amused like I am. But you guys like it, don't you? It's a DOG. In a BUN.

So... yeah, that's all I've got. I apologize for the lameness, but sometimes we all need a break. I hope you've had more exciting evenings than I have. Until tomorrow, lovely readers.

  1. Tsk, tsk, Hayley. A cop out?

Okay, I can't keep a straight face any longer. Seriously, it's okay. I don't fault you. It's been one of those days.

  2. :( I love the dog in the bun but whenever I show it to people they either stare at me like I have a cactus growing out of my eye or they act like I'm showing them a picture of a dog being punched in the face.

    Poor bun doggy.

  3. It's okay, Hayley, we all have nights like that. My evening has been mind-blowing, thanks to the utter insanity that is LOST, and frustrating, thanks to Glee being on at the same time as LOST and not yet being posted on Hulu or Fox.com. I suppose I now have something to look forward to in the morning...

And yes, who doesn't love Pizza John? :)

  4. You're right...that dog in a bun does amuse me. As well as the facebook post.

I saw your tweet earlier, and I have to agree. WTF, Glee? That was bad. That was not even close to good.

  5. That dog is by far the most adorable thing I've seen all day.

  6. Hahaha, I love that you have a folder on your desktop dedicated to such ridiculousness. It's very inspiring. The only thing I have is that my "Recylcling Bin" was renamed "Azkaban" so I could create files named "Voldemort" and send them to "Azkaban." =)

  7. Recycling*

    Damn typos, you win again.

  8. I can't help but think of the ORLY? owl whenever I see the name of the brand that makes your nails shiny.

I am also dead tired today.

    G'night!

  9. My day was as equally uneventful as yours was, so my mind is pretty numb at the moment, too. Just trying to think of a good comment is making my head hurt, so I can imagine trying to write a whole blog post.
So I agree: you do need a break sometimes. Don't even worry about your posts being lame because 1.) No they aren't and 2.) Us blog readers will literally read anything your write. XD

P.S. That dog is so adorable...haha!

  10. Pizza John will never get old. And as for dumb children on facebook, quite often I log on to see So and so became a fan of this-group-with-many-typos-in-its-title and 37 other profiles.

I really do not understand, how these people can "fan" 38 profiles, every. single. day.

And Snottlebie, renaming your recycling bin "Azkaban" is genius. I'll be doing that soon...

  11. This seems an adequate substitute... for the time being.

Kidding! Pizza John can make me forgive and forget like nobody's business!

  12. @Snottlebie

I also have a folder named Azkaban! And then various subfolders named after the Death Eaters.

  13. Hayley you never cease to amaze me. I loved your video today.

  14. Your DOG in a BUN comment reminded me that whenever I see words in all uppercase I read them in a Maureen Johnson voice.

    O.O

Oh, and of course we understand about you just not being in the mood to blog today. I'm glad you did it anyway, though :)

  15. I refuse to become a fan of anything on Facebook if it has a grammatical error. *angryface*

  16. Well I have had plenty of problems today. First of all I got "caught" J-Walking, which I live in a suburban college town, like WTF EVERYBODY J-Walks. So I got a freaking court summons, like not a ticket with a fine, but a freaking court summons. How ridiculous is my life? Also I have two big tests this week so I've been trying to study like crazy, but keep getting distracted. I better pull my head outta my butt though cuz finals are fast approaching. Anyways, I think that dog in a bun was amazing and adorable. Sorry your not having an inspirational day, if it's any consolation I loved your video today. :D

  17. O.M.G. @ the facebook screenshot O_O So much fail.

I have a folder on my computer called "LULZ" which obviously contains things that make me laugh, but only in a way the internet can do so.

And the dog in the bun picture baffles me too, but it's quite hilarious.

I enjoyed this post by the way =)

  18. Your blog just turned into tumblr Hayley! What's next, hipster glasses and scarves in the summer? Oh wait, those are all things I do... Brb, getting a tumblr account. I'mma blog about bands that I make up in my brain. That's how obscure I be.

Anyway, yes. Everyone deserves a breaky break.

  19. That dog is adorable. And I like this idea. It made me giggle (John) and lose faith in humanity (facebook.) Hope you have a better day tomorrow, Hayley.

  24. Thank you for my daily dose of random. :D Up there with a prof referring to his research on infant sacrifice in the ancient mediterranean as "tots in pots".

  25. That puppy is adorable. Although, why it's encased in bread, I can't fathom.

  26. I can see this being a meme one day. Here's my contribution to ugly: This is a conversation that just took place via facebook statuses that I could not just leave to its own devices.

    ---------------------
Aaron - QUIDDITCH IS A LEAGALIZED SPORT?! WHAT A JOKE!

Slow D Slow [Editor’s note: Not kidding.]: haha lets go commit suicide man. If thats what this world is coming to i dont know how much more i can take lol

Jennifer: How can you play? Lol its played on brooms!

Aaron: No kidding! So lame. And about how they play it, you got me there too.

Slow D Slow: they probably smoke drugs so that they think they are flying but really are not. which is why the fag sport aint televised

    Aaron: HAHA!!! Good answer!

Me: Um... It’s not lame at all! There’s a university quidditch league, and it’s taken seriously just like any other sport. Furthermore, it’s imaginative and good spirited - that alone grants it an enormous amount of merit. Besides, Harry Potter isn’t just a book, it’s a pop culture movement with everything from its own amusement park to genre of music, so quidditch was just a matter of time. It’s been around for ages, too, so I don’t know where you’ve been. Do what you love and forget the rest. For you, it happens to be cars and heavy metal music. For me, it’s books and intellect and things like quidditch. It’s better to be passionate about something than apathetic about everything.

And a sport cannot be a fag.

  31. I have a sausage dog, and for Christmas someone bought her this foam bun costume, complete with sqiggly lines of mustard and ketchup. She was less than impressed wearing it, but it was sooooo cute :)
I agree with jordiekins, ORLY makes me think of the owl!

  32. Rrrrrrrrrrrr a hot dog! Yummy!

  33. Today, I showed the dog in a bun picture to the person immediately to my left, and he actually laughed a bit.
A first! I was thrilled. Love That Dog

  34. Well since you asked (kind of) I did the stereotypical college thing and procrastinated on my paper (mainly for my own kind of Situation) so I woke up at 3:30 this morning and rolled put a 7 page research paper. Skillz!

  35. Even when you think you're lame, you're still awesome. ^_^

That Facebook group has the wrong spelling of "they're," and I'm guessing that's why they're not sure if their answer are right.

  36. I liked the post :) Of course I'd rather know about your school day and social life (you're like a novel that one reads very, very slowly), but this was fun too! And I loved seeing the nailpolish, damn, makeup is a drug *.* Also, dog in a bun is not funny. xD sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  37. You know you need to get a life when, you are painting your nails with the kids you babysit and you think, I bet Hayley would love this color. Yeah...that happened to me last night. But anyway...that dog is pretty darn cute! haha!
Glee! <3 How exciting is it that Jonathan Groff and Idina Menzel were on! :)
