I made a fiveawesomegirls video!
I think the fictional character I relate to most is Elliot Reid (played by Sarah Chalke) from Scrubs. I get told that I look like her. We're both cripplingly unstable, have disastrous quirks, played tambourine in Christian rock bands (Not really, but would you put it past me?), and have habits of dating guys we don't like. "I could never do yoga," Elliot once said. "All that heavy breathing. I hate breathing. Except, of course... to live." What about you, readers? What fake person do you relate to?
MOVING RIGHT ALONG.
I'm skipping school tomorrow to visit my future home, Ohio University. All my siblings went there, so I'm going down with my oldest sister, Cori, to stay with my other sister, Kelly. It'll be like a normal college visit... except without all the orientation stuff... and a lot more mischievous... and altogether more fun. I'll have to steal someone's laptop to blog tomorrow and Saturday, but I'm going to try. BEDA is sort of like a game, and I REFUSE TO LOSE.
OH, and in other youtubely news, I dreamt last night that I lived in the apartment complex from The Science of Sleep, next door to whataboutadam. I had some sort of big secret... that I can't remember... and Adam filmed it all and exposed me on his youtube channel. I remember feeling very confused, very betrayed, and very excited for all the new subscribers I'd gain. It's possible that this stems from my mission, HOAISSEDA, which stands for Hit On Adam In Sixty Seconds Every Day April. It's taking effort to come up with something creepy to comment each evening. I deserve a restraining order.
Sexy: John C. McGinley. I've mentioned before how his role in Scrubs revs me up (He's so damaged and dysfunctional and dreamy!) but I realized today, while watching Oliver Stone's horrific Platoon, that it's not just Dr. Cox. It's him. He sweats talent and sex.
Unsexy: The Vietnam War, while we're on the subject. I'm reading Tim O'Brien's Going After Cacciato, and it's really pulling at me. How awful.
Weight: 135
Chipotle burritos this year: 12
Subscribers: 15, 416
Days left of high school: 22
Bye, guys! See you tomorrow. <3
Hey Hayley! I hope you have fun visiting university.
ReplyDeleteHow are you going to post videos when you are away at college?
Scarlett O'Hara hands down. I think I'm like her less now(20) than when I was younger but my mom has promised me since I was probably 12 that I could wear a red dress to her mother's and her funerals.
ReplyDeleteWere reading Tim O'Briens, "The Things They Carried", in my AP english class. Its depressing as well. As for a fake character like me, I havent found one yet.
ReplyDeleteYou do have a rather Elliot-esque look about you... but obviously way better.
ReplyDeleteI was titled Ron Weasley for the majority of my high school years simply because I have red hair, so I would be inclined to offer him as my false relation... otherwise I would think too much of it and come up with many different variables of many different people... i'm fussy like that. LOL.
I loved your annoyance video! But I was bound to... partly made my day when I saw it in my subscription box : )
i hate that you love whataboutadam more than me cause i always think you're gonna say something about me, but noooo
ReplyDeletealso read The Things They Carried, it's amazing.
I have read one chapter of Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, which is still about the Vietnam war. I'd like to read some more of it.. :)
ReplyDeletestrangely i think i relate most to nick from nick and norah, not for the obvious reasons, though.
ReplyDeleteI think I might be some sort of hybrid of Jo March, Hermione Granger and Colin Singleton, minus the part about being a child prodigy and the part about being a dumpee. I'm a pretty hardcore dumper. But in terms of really wanting to matter and not understanding how to make friends and having best friends who are the complete opposite, yet also the same as us, we're kindred spirits.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say I relate a lot to Peter Parker. We both enjoy helping people, and love cracking jokes. We're rather familiar with the ways of heartbreak and have lost very important elderly people in our lives. We both remain optimistic despite the storm of misery that often comes our way. (That may sound rather melancholy, but remember, I am still optimistic.)
ReplyDeleteNot to mention, we're both snappy dressers.
And Colin Singleton. Former prodigy, my residual talents being:
ReplyDelete1. I have retained my ability for swift learning, but only when it comes to art techniques.
2. I can spell like nobody's business.
Fictional characters I am most like? *sigh*
ReplyDeleteChandler Bing and Xander Harris. I know, I know, I can hear uterus' drying up across the country hearing news like that.
...
Why would I say that? Why am I not erasing it? Ugh. Somedays, you just feel more damaged than others.
This is really weird, because someone just said Xander Harris, but I have been told time and again that I am the clone of Cordelia Chase. I'm kind of proud of this.
ReplyDeleteHave fun visiting uni!
i dunno what fictional character im like but it would probably be a cross between Andrew Largeman in garden state and Evan from super bad ( i even have the best freind thats just like Seth was a bit scary when we saw that film together and where like s**t man Seth Rogans following us and writing down our life)
ReplyDeleteI has an important question... Will you be a LeakyCon?
ReplyDeletehere in jersey we have 35 days of school left. i am profoundly jealous.
ReplyDeleteas for my fictional character alter go, id have to say monica from friends. we are both slightly neurotic with ocd and generally are attracted to guys who think theyre funnier than they are.
anyways, i love your blog and your writing style.
I read The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien when I was a junior, and it was utterly heart-wrenching. I imagine Going after Cacciato is very similar.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I want you to know that I spent most of today reading all of your BEDA blogs when I should have been studying for finals instead. You're simply spectacular, Hayley.
and a final note...you're going to love college. I know you've commented on being "done" with high school, but college is SO MUCH BETTER. You're going to love every minute. trust me. I'm a sophomore in college now, and it's seriously like night and day.
Vanity Smurf for me definately, a total narcissist. Just awful.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the brilliant posts Hayley, no doubt you will charm the bajingo off everyone at University.
I had to read 'The Things They Carried' by Tim O'Brien for English.
ReplyDeleteIt was a well written book, but ridiculously depressing. .
I can't think of a fictional character that I'm like...more like a combination of Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood, and Ginny Weasley. Now that I think about it, that'd be one hypocritical, bossy, crazy, over-emotional bitch. Makes sense.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I just finished "The Things They Carried" for AP English. Definitely sad, and so deliberately written, but at the same time I didn't like it. Ugh, I feel so insensitive saying that.
Oh, and I hope you really enjoy college. I know how you can't take high school anymore, and I'm with you on that. I still have one more year to go though. Yay for being two days too young to go into kindergarten and having to repeat pre-school...
I agree w/ the Vietnam War being unsexy. I'm currently reading "The Things They Carried", which is also by Tim O'Brien, for my Conflicts II class.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I agree 100% about John C. McGinley! My friends think I'm insane. They don't know what they're missing.
Lee Fiora, from the novel Prep. When I read that book, I feel as if at times I'm reading about myself. The way she thinks, especially about herself, are exactly how I feel half the time.
ReplyDeleteDr. George O'Malley... from Grey's... Don't ask... Its probably gotta do with that whole thing he had for meredith in the beginning seasons.
ReplyDeleteI can see the Elliot in you!
ReplyDeleteThe Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien is one of my top ten.
As for fictional characters...
Ever read Catherine, Called Birdy? The Newbery Honor Book by Karen Cushman? I'm exactly like the title character. She spends her days plotting how to drive away her suitors, painting murals on her bedroom walls, and tangling her spinning.
I just read a few posts and I like your writing style! Have a great trip to the Uni!
ReplyDeleteFunny story for you, Hayley:
ReplyDeleteSo for our spring play, we're doing Romeo and Juliet and I'm in costume crew. Either way, at the ending when the whole costume crew runs out to bow, not only do I trip and fall, I trip and fall in front of the guy who I've have liked for months and his girlfriend.
Thought that would be worthy of you reading. =D
-klutz.
Tim O'Brien is an amazing author. The Things They Carried, as some people have already said, is such a great book. Y'know, if you're into the whole "get me depressed right now" kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteFictional character...
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say I'm *gulp* Hermione? *runs away awkwardly in shame*
But seriously, what kind of name is Hermione anyway...
I was down in Athens last Saturday & it was insane. I don't know if I could manage living down there... everyone was drunk or getting there and acting ridiculous. I saw a guy with sunglasses on his penis. I'm not exaggerating- I was pretty shell-shocked after being there. I guess I'd never been down on a weekend before.
ReplyDeletehave a good time in Columbus, its an awesome uni! They have a great football team too.
ReplyDeleteEvery day I read your blog and absolutely adore it...
ReplyDelete...except for one part. In the end when you mention your Chipotle burrito count, it makes me crave some Chipotle it the WORST of ways. Unfortunately, the closest restaurant is 3 hours away. I might be willing to make that journey when BEDA ends to celebrate it's success.
Oh, Chipotle burritos. What won't I do for you?
Keep up the awesome blogging Hayley and enjoy those burritos for those of us unfortunate enough to live in a town without Chipotle.
REFUSE TO LOSE!
ReplyDeleteA new motivational poster for your high school?
Definitely Hermione Granger. I love books, I can be a knowitall, and I get strangely emotional and lash out sometimes.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I tend to think of things no one else would, for some reason... Heh.
Have fun visiting OU. I hope you loves it.
Not surprised at your 3 levels of reaction to Adam's shocking reveal of your secret. Wouldn't put it past you to relish in the scandal for the new subs. :P
ReplyDeleteWE COULD POST SCANDAL VIDEOS ABOUT EACH OTHER. That's brilliant. Ha.
I read "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien in my english class last year.. it wasnt too bad, as school books go.
i relate to elliot reed, too but more so in these last few seasons where she's less twitchy and has really come to terms with the fact that she's insane. i have a lonnng list of neuroses that i think are funny but most likely drive everyone i know crazy. for example, my volume on my car radio must be on a multiple of 5 or i will obsess about it relentlessly. i've even had to go back out to my car after i've gone into a store and turn my car on to make sure it was on 15 and not 14.
ReplyDeletehave you read the shack by william paul young? i think you should - i bet you'll love it.
Woo, I'm finally officially following this blog! I've been trying to make an account since you started BEDA, but my wireless connection hates me.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably a really weird mix of Hermione Granger, Elliot Reed and Jo March...yeah, that doesn't make much sense to me either...
And I completely agree about John C. McGinley...I actually had this conversation with a friend yesterday, and she thought I was insane - "He's nearly 50! And he plays Dr Cox!" being her reasoning against my argument. Some people just don't appreciate greatness.
loved the annoyance video!!
ReplyDeleteI always giggle like a little girl every time you mention me Hayley. On behalf of a dream version of myself I apologize for telling your secret. PS I play hard to get. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Scrubs! JD reminds me a lot of my brother, who is actually premed. I just recently read a Tim O'Brien book, The Things They Carried. It was assigned as a Book Club book for my English class (I'm in the class that reads more books, and then extra ones for book club every month or so!). I agree that Vietnam is very unsexy, but I actually really liked this book. It's weird because I usually hate war novel, and I never would have picked it on my own. It was cool because it alternated between autobiography and novel..
ReplyDeleteScrubs wise I prefer the Janitor ^_^
ReplyDeleteI'm behind i know, ive been traveling, playing catch up on my new favourite thing of the day (thats your blogs btw)
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled across free wireless, oooh yeh :D
But yes, being the ever obsessed scrubs fan i always relate to JD, constant mental monologue, strange, huge nerd, pretty messed up, although im stuck as early season JD.
Cant pull myself away from your blogs.
