Climax!

Wait. Before you read any further, open another tab and turn this on. It has a 96% chance of making you wag your head back and forth and/or wiggle your toes. Feel better now? You're welcome.

Hello! A minor technical difficulty is impeding my ability to read story submissions for the book this evening, and even though one of my eyelids has been subsequently twitching like a nervous rodent's tail, I'm trying to see the setback as a blessing. Maybe the universe caught on to the fact that I've been having stress dreams about paragraph breaks and it, like, decided I need a break. So I'm breaking! I'm eating dark chocolate-covered almonds, listening to that Julia Nunes song, and sorting through the hundreds of old video files cluttering my camera. One result of that last activity just made its way up on my youtube channel, so if you like hot guys and pretty mountains and the sight of me wearing the same cardigan for three weeks, you can check out this montage from the road trip I went on last summer. I'm trying to be more take-charge about making videos. In fact-- can you keep a secret? Seriously. This piece of information is a blog-readers-only exclusive, okay? I'm going to be posting a new video on my main channel every Thursday from now until... indefinitely. I don't want to make that promise to the Greater Internet because nothing dooms a plan more than talking about it, but I think this will be good for me. Keep an eye on your subscriptions box (or just keep reading this blog; it almost feels like the current YouTube layout is trying to make it hard to see new videos) and you're guaranteed to get slapped in the face with my voice on a fairly regular basis. Everyone wins! (Depending on how you define "winning.")

In other news... I guess I go to school or something? If it weren't for the fact that I host a weekly advice show about college living (new video today!), I'd probably forget that minor detail and just never leave my apartment. My latest motivation for attending class comes in the form of two cuter boys who sit behind me in one them. Our professor is this very knowledgeable and sweet but extremely dramatic little man who has a habit of STARTING EVERY SENTENCE IN A LOUD, BOOMING VOICE that tapers off and eventually concludes in a slow. exaggerated. whisper. It was charming the first hundred times-- I thought the guy was just super pumped about literature of the Enlightenment-- but it turns out he's terrifically, mightily, exponentially pumped about everything. Anyway, the two boys in the back row noticed my brass Gryffindor crest ring and realized that referencing Harry Potter makes me laugh, so they've taken to calling our class History of Magic. They also do just about everything within their power to mask the pain of class with hilarity. One of them leans over to my ear and narrates the lectures:

Professor: "AND FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER FINDS A SACK OF BOOKS--"
Guy behind me: "Exposition."
Professor: "AND HE READS THOSE BOOKS--"
Guy behind me: "Rising action, rising action..."
Professor: "Because he wants. to. feel..."
Guy behind me: "Climax!"
Professor: "Alive."
Guy behind me: "And scene."

Yeah, so even though I'd rather be forced to watch a football game than feel the need to flirt outrageously with some dumb twenty-year-old guys, they're amusing enough to get me out of bed and into a little bit of mascara. Whatever works, I guess.

It's nine o'clock now and I still haven't worked out tonight, so I'm gonna go try to pound out three miles on a treadmill. It's always a pleasure to talk to you fine people! I hope you have a lovely night. <3

Thursday might just become my favourite day again! They haven't been quite the same since 5AG ended.

Also, if cute boys would make Harry Potter jokes and narrate things for me, maybe I wouldn't be taking courses through distance education. But, still. Staying in pajamas all day is pretty great.

I don't know how I would feel about a professor talking like that. haha But it sounds like you have some interesting classmates. :)

Now I'll be constantly checking this: http://isitthursday.org/

You are not the only one to have a compelling reason to go to class. I'm sure the Weasley twins (that's how I picture them in my head) wake up every morning thinking about what they will say to dazzle you. Without a doubt, the gingers are fighting over you at this very moment...

Boys like that could make any class interesting.

Enjoy their company for us, will you Hayley?

good luck with the tuesday videos. yeah youtube makes it harder and harder to see subscriptions. I'm building a site that makes it much easier to see videos that come through your subbox. if anyone wants a peak at it just drop me a like and I'll send you the no-so-secrete url.

cheers all you hayley-g-hoovites

Woo! I'm excited for Thursdays, again. And being flirted with. Even if they are dumb boys, it is fun.

Yes! So excited about the Thursday videos thing! Glad you can confide in us blogreaders. And oh man, I am so guilty about being motivated to go to class because of cute guys. It's just that time of year I guess!

I have a History of Magic class, too. Mainly because I find it way too boring to actually listen to the guy talk. Professor Binns has, however, managed to appear corporeal.

I hope the stress begins to decrease here soon! A little bit of it is always healthy, but it seems your twitchy eye symptom is way too much. Good luck with editing and videos and "school" and EVERYTHING ELSE. You can doooo ittttttt. :)

Haha. That's pretty awesome, actually. (I'm referring to both the song and guys making class that much more enjoyable for you by making HP references and such.) I'm sure it makes it a tad harder to pay attention, but it still sounds hilarious. :)
At least it seems your at the starting point of making new friends, even if you feel like life's too crazy for that right now. You need to enjoy the time you have. Don't let the things you love doing become so overwhelming that you stop enjoying them! :)

You're making a video every Thursday? That. Is. Wonderful. Just like the old 5AG times :')

Blaargh I hate the new YouTube layout! It's actually been because of your blog/twitter that I've known about the newer videos. :P

And I'm super jealous of the cute boys who make Harry Potter jokes. All I have is old people and boys with gross beards. Not to be confused with nice beards; they're more like "I'm going to grow facial hair just to prove I can" beards. Anyway...
Can't wait for new videos! :D

What about cute and hot girls?
Is there any in the class (besides you of course)?
You have to think about your male non-gay reader, like myself, as well.
I remenber going to some portuguese classes in college just because a girl in the class was pretty cute.
I later stop learning german for the same reason, because no cute girl was in the class haha, actually no girl at all.
Then I learned english (which is not my first language) because my girlfriend was American.
Sometimes you just do things because there is a cute boy or girl around.
Even though I never talked to those girls, not in portuguese, not in german and not in english either - I still enjoyed being around them.
You are very cute Hayley, that's one of the reasons why I love to watch your videos (one among a thousand). But it's not the only one, I just enjoy what you are saying.Same way I read your blog even though I cant see your cute face and your charming smile as I read it.

I wish cute guys sat behind ME at class. I have no motivation these days and there have only been two classes this semester so far. I attended one. As in 50%. However I have watched all the episodes of Veronica Mars twice, and avarage of 8 episodes a day. So.

This post just put me in SUCH a good mood. Thank you.
I decided to read this first thing when I woke up today. I have this crapload of homework to do, and I'm generally pretty stressed, but as soon as I started listening to Julia Nunes' song and reading about your hilarious class experiences, my day seemed so much brighter. :D
I think I'll be listening to JuNu on repeat for a while now.

Thank you, anyway.
-Alex

p.s. I feel like I need to APOLOGIZE for not having submitted a story for your book. I really, really was planning on it. But I have this MAJOR issue with procrastination, wherein I absolutely avoid ANYTHING as soon as I tell myself it's something I have to do. :\ So I just didn't do it. That, and I didn't have a CLUE what to write about. So I'm really sorry. <3
Good luck choosing submissions!

Hi Hayley! I love that you've been blogging more lately. Also I'm jealous that you have funny/cute boys in your class because all of the boys at my university just... aren't :P. Good luck with your Thursday plan!

It makes me happy that you're posting videos on Thursdays. And today, I randomly decided to catch up on reading blog posts and I read this. I looked at the calendar to find out how soon the next Thursday is and then I realized "OMG. IT'S TODAY." So yeah, I'm really happy. I love your videos, Hayley, you are my favorite youtuber :)

Harry Potter jokes -just hit me.

Thank you, Hayley. It actually DID make me wiggle my toes. Which is nice in the middle of late breakfast on a Saturday "morning".
I really want dark chocolate covered almonds now though :-/
Also, I really enjoy seeing more videos from you lately. You always make me smile.

OOh lala Hayley! It's awesome that they're funny and cute instead of cute and...lame. Like most cute guys.
