SUPERCOLORVISION!

Having just finished the several-hour drive from school to home, I'm finally at my kitchen counter, both my parents within reach, drinking hot tea out of a cup that isn't styrofoam. Also, my internet connection isn't being dramatically slowed due to some kid on the second floor illegally downloading four hours' worth of porn. Ahh, the simple pleasures of escaping the dormitory lifestyle. It's only for three days, but I'm determined to soak up every second.

Yesterday's discussion reminded me, once again, of how lucky I am to have such interesting people read my blog. Honestly. I spent quite some time reading comments both on my own post and on Kayley's, and I really enjoyed hearing what you had to say. The majority of commenters seemed to agree with me-- believing that scheduled time each day for creative projects does more good than harm-- but those on the opposite team had some decent points, too. I've decided that the best way to settle this debate is to... only update daily during Aprils and Augusts. I know, I know. I am a genius.

I love the days when this blog works out as a two-way discussion, and to keep the momentum up, I have another quest for you guys today. There's this test going around Tumblr to determine how well you see colors. It takes a few minutes (I think I spent around ten or fifteen), but it's pretty fun... and the fact that I received a PERFECT SCORE kind of makes me feel like I have superpowers, if we're being honest. Some can bend steel, some can fight crime, some can... do whatever it is that Aquaman does... but I can SEE. It's really rather empowering, and I would be remiss to deny you the possibility of being as spectacular as I am. You can take the test here, and I fully expect you to comment with your scores. And I mean that. Or else you'll never be invited to mine and Aquaman's parties!

To avoid the inevitable "YOU CAN'T PROVE THAT YOU GOT A PERFECT SCORE" jeers, I screenshotted my victory below. So you can, as they say in the professional-perfect-color-vision-people business, suck it.

On that note, I've got a date with my queen-sized bed. I hope you all have a lovely day, and I'll see you guys tomorrow!

  1. I've taken this test before and I scored on the low side of average, and I consider myself a color guru. I choose to believe that it's my shitty PC's fault that I scored low, but who knows. So I will politely decline to retake it.

Enjoy your weekend at home with the Hoover Fam-Bam. I hope Grandma's cupcakes are delish!!

  2. 1) Im not going to trust an online test.

    2) I already know that im colorblind.

  3. Ok so as a distraction to writing yet another paper for college, I decided to see if you updated for today. And ALAS you have!

So after reading through, (congrats on the perfect score)I clicked on the link to the test.

Once it loaded (crappy school internet) it took one look at it and thought "Yeah, this is not happening." Just looking at it gave me a headachee. Now I know what you're thinking! "Come on! That's why it's called a challege... so you try." BUT I can tell you right now I wouldn't have gotten a good score.

Well now that I have been successfully been distracted, I'm going to write this paper and hopefully be done before one!

  4. I rushed through it tonight and got a 16. Last night, though, I got a 6. I guess I got a bit impatient today.

Here's another fun one, if you're bored: http://woodgears.ca/eyeball/

Hope you've had a great day!
    See ya tomorrow!

  5. I got a 16!? Not sure if that's good or bad, but I liked the test.

    ReplyDelete
  6. i took the test yesterday when nanalew tweeted it. i got 19, you must be a superhuman =D

    ReplyDelete
  7. I got a 12. I'm not sure how good it is. I was all happy when I did it, I thought I was going to do super well.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I got a 3. :( I know that's pretty good, but I was hoping to be in the SUPERCOLORVISION club of people who got a perfect score...

3 day weekends are da bomb dot com. :D I am def-d-e-f-definite(ly) glad not to have school tomorrow. :D

Also, I am in a GOOFY mood, as you may have ASCERTAINED from the nature of this COMMENT.

Love you Hayley. Have a good Good Friday tomorrow!

  9. got a 0! I HAVE PERFECT VISION BITCHES!

    ReplyDelete
  10. 26.

That was way harder than I anticipated.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I took this test last year and also got 0, but I just took it again for good measure and got the same. =]

  14. I got a zero! I have supercolorvision too!! Why am I so excited about this?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I got an eleven. I also choose to blame the crappy computer colors.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I got a 0! Which in this case is PERFECT COLOR VISION, YES.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I am procrastinating cleaning my house, so was only too happy to take an online test!! I got 15... interesting exercise though.

    ReplyDelete
  18. No way! First time, I got a 24. After reading everybody's comments, that depressed me, so I tried it again. Second time, I got a perfect score. I gotta say, I'm a little shocked. If at first you don't succeed...

Thanks for sharing this fun little test. My eyes are going to rest now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. It says something terrible about myself that I got a 47 and I kind of want to cry. I am just full of...something.

Oh, I should clarify. The something terrible is the fact that I want to cry. Though a 47 is pretty awful.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I couldn't even finish the test! My eyes hurt O_o

    ReplyDelete
  21. Surprisingly, that just makes me more excited for college!
And I scored 11... but without a reference system, I can say that's awesome.
As usual, thanks for being entertaining and amusing.

  23. oppps! :)

i got an 11. my little brother took the test and got a 184. and i helped him with the obvious ones. yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  24. 27. I definitely had a false sense of confidence going into that test. Is it possible that consistently wearing nail polish could improve my color recognition? Perhaps I should give it a try.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I got a 30... now I just feel like I have stupid eyes compared to the rest of you. Sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  26. I got a 7. Hm. That sounds pretty good to me, although not superhuman like your score. Ah well. Have a good weekend home! I totally sympathize with you on the dormitory lifestyle, and though I do have one class tomorrow I will be going home. I shouldn't really complain about living in a dorm, though, since I go home quite frequently... BUT STILL. THE INTERNET SUCKS HERE.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Apparently, my color vision is PERFECT TOO. I feel so honored. Also, like I have an obligation to go out into the world and arrange things in their correct color order.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 11... I fail at the blue hues. :(

    ReplyDelete
  29. I got a 35! I can't believe how terrible my color vision is. While taking the test a lot of the colors started looking the same. Weird...

    ReplyDelete
  30. I got a 28, but I think that's partially due to the fact that I have no patience for these types of things and after the first color strip I raced through the rest. I mean, that's my excuse anyway :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I got a 12 but that's not too bad. Not all of us can have perfect colorvision, Hayley.
Have a great Easter. I am looking forward to a weekend full of delicious food and wonderful family.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I got a perfect score! do I get to join the superseers league?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I got a 23. I guess that's pretty okay. I already know that my eyes are bad. Enjoy your Easter cupcakes Hayley! >.< I like commenting on you blog better than on YouTube videos, just because I know you are physically capable of reading all of these comments (and in perfect colour too!)

Haha I agree with you up there, Sarah- it made my eyes sorta sore too.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I got 7, but there were a bunch of instances where I could tell it was wrong and was simply too lazy to try and fix it. So I'll just assume I'm more like a 4 or 5?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I got a 45 on the color test a few days ago. I really made me see spots in the most unpleasant way. :/

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mmmmn. I got a 22, which makes me sad. It's not horrible, but it's not awesome.
    My eyes hurt now.

Have a good weekend at home! :)

  39. Your score: 7
    Gender: Female
    Age range: 20-29 (I'm 21)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm jealous of your perfect score! I got a 7, which isn't TOO bad... I guess... damn it!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh my dear god... Am I the only one in the triple digits so far?! I got a 101! I'm a 21 year old female haha. I actually found this really challenging... uh oh.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Your score: 97

:( And I thought I had great vision.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I could tell they were wrong, but I didn't know how to correct it . . .

    ReplyDelete
  44. Totally scored a 3, and now I feel so inferior to you, the superhuman.

    happy easter!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I got 112... that's embarrassing. But then again... I do wear glasses, and I've just woken up, so my eyes aren't at their best...
Yes, I'm sticking with that excuse!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I got 11. I am not worthy. Enjoy your weekend! (ps, we have the same birthday. just casully looking to see if you'd posted a blog on my bday, and I was like WHAT.)
    :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. I got an 80 last night and a 40 this morning.
    I HATE this game.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I once heard that females have better color vision than males and can see a bigger range of colors (like, a woman sees various shades of red while a man only sees one) and when the site said more man than woman have some form of color vision deficiency, I thought I was goning to get a low score, but I actually got a perfect one. :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I got a 74, which apparently is really kind of bad. I'm not sure that I believe it, but anyhow...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Also, it gave me a headache. :(

    ReplyDelete
  51. I got a 24 on the test. Now my eyes hurt. :(

    ReplyDelete
  52. I got a 25. I feel kind of weird about that after seeing how low most of the other commentors got.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I got a 42. My eyes hurt from watching the screen so intently. XD
(Probably not good for my headache :X )

    ReplyDelete
  54. I got a 11, my eyes hurt a little, but it's not that bad. I also did the one that Jordiekins suggested and got a 4,55.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I scrolled through the comments, but I didn't see all of them, so I may be incorrect here but... APPARENTLY I HAVE HORRIBLE EYES. I scored in the 70s. I think I'm just going to be proud that I got such a horrible score. That's how I roll.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I got a 68... but I'm a male and I woke up not too long ago.

Hey Aquaman has plenty of abilities... like being super strong, a good swimmer, being able to breathe underwater, talk underwater, and able to survive the pressures of being at the bottom of the ocean. Oh, and talking to sea creatures. And he's super optimistic. Yeah. I'm only pointing this out because I feel people don't give him enough credit for being cool. I guess superheroes need to be brooding and such to be awesome.

Here, Sad Aquaman with Batman trying to cheer him up: http://youtu.be/e-mkoxEdSVg

    ReplyDelete
  57. I got a 20. I was expecting to do worse because I got kind of lazy towards the end. It was interesting to see the spectrum of colors on the lines that I did better, though. They kind of reminded me of those color squares that you see in hardware/home supply stores when you're buying paint.

And Hayley, it seems that I am the only person who has noticed the absence of your "what I've eaten" list. How's the dairy free eating going?

    ReplyDelete
  58. I got a 12. And my eyes hurt kind of a lot.
    Ow.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I got a 12. Apparently I'm going to have to keep searching to discover what my superpower is.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yikes! That was hard. I got an 8.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I scored a 43. No shame.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I got 19, though I probably could have spent a little more time on it. I already knew my eyes aren't great though- I wear glasses for long distance stuff atm x

    ReplyDelete
  63. I got 8...apparently wasn't so good at determining the blues and green when they were together. That said, 8 is pretty much perfect so I don't think I need worry!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I rushed through it and got a 24. I think that's bad?

    ReplyDelete
  65. YAY i got a ZERO! SUPERCOLOURVISION! HUZZAH!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Perfect, as well. Hahha, "you're not special!"

    ReplyDelete
  67. I got 14 :/. But at least I'll will be invited to Aquaman's party (Although Aquaman sucks. He sucks underwater. He sucks fish pee. (name the TV show that quote is from) )

    ReplyDelete
  68. HA!

I think that I was dumb enough to arrange them by fashion and prettiness rather than...following...the...rules.

BUT I'm not going to lie- in the end I got sort of bored with it so I just started throwing blocks around like it was nobody's business.

    And I got a 42. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  69. I got 34 which is sort of at the high end of the middle. I think I'm OK with that. Also, I saw this awesome game which is kind of similar, http://woodgears.ca/eyeball/ I get like 5-6ish every time. It's so addictive :P

    ReplyDelete
  70. 18. KINDAOKCOLORVISION? Towards the end I just started clicking randomly, so the torture would be over. I bow down to your superpowers, Hayley and Izzy.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I did the first one but then gave up. Sorry. It's just that A Knight's Tale is on and Heath Ledger wins from colortests...

Oh, what did you eat today?

    ReplyDelete
  72. 16, could be worse but the whole taking the test gave me a headache, however it was interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I actually took that test before you posted it on your Tumblr. I got a 34, I think. I remain convinced that, had I the patience and time, I would have gotten a perfect score, but I was in my dining hall and it was about to close, so I sort of rushed through it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I was kind of content with my 36 until I read these comments. Oh well. So long as I can still distinguish the purple jellybeans from the pink ones, I'm sorted for life.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I got a 62. My world is now black and white.

    ReplyDelete
  76. 24. Hm, not too bad, but not great. It is kind of late and this screen really isn't the best, and I had my eyes tested last week and they are good, so I'm not worried. Especially as I am female and the optician said that about 5% of men have problems with colour and only about 0.5% of women. Haha, that was after my dad interrogated her as to why she didn't test me for colour blindness, when I had that test last appointment, 2 years ago, but 'when he was a boy' he had regular optician appointments and they would always check, but that was because he knew he wanted to go into the navy at a young age. But nevermind, well done on your perfect result!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Wait. Wait. Wait.

The first time I did this I was...in a less than perfect mental state due to my college lifestyle. I got a 335 and I thought it was because I was obviously not on top of my game. So I took it again just now and I got a 136.

    That's not good, is it?

Wow. I had no idea I was so color blind. Seriously, WTF?! I'm feeling completely inadequate compared to everyone else on here...

    ReplyDelete
  78. I feel like i failed now!! I got a 45. :(

    ReplyDelete
  79. I took it twice. First time I got 43. That made me feel horrible so I convinced myself it was a fluke and took it again, getting a 12. Something makes me think this isn't so accurate!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Unrelated comment:
After a year-and-a-half "break" from Nerdfighters and Youtube, I am ashamed to say it took me a full year (in blog posts)to remember what DFTBA stands for. *shame*

    Related comment:
My vision started to blur after looking at that color test for 2.3 minutes. Whether it's because of such a dizzying array of similar colors in such a small space, or of five straight hours staring at my computer screen, I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I got a 93 and I feel wronged!! I thought my colorvision was better than that }:(

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hey Hayley! I saw your video for high school freshmen and really liked it. But I'm going to be a freshman in college this coming August. Any advice for me (please)?

    ReplyDelete
  83. I got a 20 without my glasses, and a 31 with them. No fair, I wish I had super vision too.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I got an 8. probably could have done better if a) I wanted to and b) I wasn't so f*cking tired.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I got a 7 xD Mostly cuz I got lazy at the end and got the last 5 wrong xD I knew they didn't look right but I was too tired to figure out the correct order lol

    ReplyDelete
  86. I got a 16. Blue/green fail.

    ReplyDelete
  87. yes! I got a zero! SUPERCOLORVISION ALL THE WAY BITCHES!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Okay this is totally random but I just feel like you need to know.
Yesterday I had to have a presentation on sexually transmitted diseases, and the person giving the presentations name was Holly Hoover, and I thought of you. (at first I thought she said Hayley and then I read her card thing)
I have no idea why you really needed to know this information. I just... felt like sharing. ... not the sexually transmitted diseases but the... fact that her name... yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  89. damnit. I got a 3 too, but I'm convinced I could've done better had I spent more time on it- I rushed it in ~5mins or so.

    excuses excuses, I know.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I thought i was doing quite well and then it said i got 11... atleast it's not anywhere near the 99 range! :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. I got a 20, which I guess is pretty good?

    ReplyDelete
  92. A 50. I have never been more disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I got a 4. Pretty excellent, but I guess I'm not in the supervision club. :(

    ReplyDelete
  94. I got an 18, not too bad. But it burns staring at the computer that long!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I got a 24 because I got a headache halfway through lol.
I'm pretty impressed with your perfect score :P
    You superhuman you

    ReplyDelete
  96. I got a 39. I know that that's not bad, but I don't think it's great either....

    ReplyDelete
  97. I just realized that I had the brightness dimmed on my computer....probably contributed to my rather awful score (39). But full brightness hurts my eyes. :/

    ReplyDelete
  98. I thought I was killing it until it told me that I got a 36. Ah well, what can you do?

    ReplyDelete
  99. I thought I was killing it until it told me that I got a 36. Ah well, what can you do?

    ReplyDelete
  100. I got 11, which is my lucky number, but I would've preferred 0. I did play lazy though XD I was like "that doesn't look right... screw it!" *submit score*

    ReplyDelete
  101. Doing this test is seriously effing up my vision. Thanks a lot, Hayley.
I got a 7, but I think that's more to do with my getting distracted at the end and flailing my way through it.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I got a 12, which I'm pretty proud of considering when I clicked on it I couldn't tell the difference between the majority of the colours on the screen! I hope you had a really great Easter :)

    ReplyDelete
  103. I got a perfect score too, yay!

    ReplyDelete
  104. I got an 8. The colors started to blur together after a while! I wish it gave the average score for your demographic.
